About me

Hi, I'm Sam, and I am an integrative psychotherapist based in Long Eaton, offering a safe and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. My approach is humanistic and relational, meaning I value the therapeutic relationship as central to healing and personal growth.

I understand that sometimes words alone aren’t enough to express what we feel. When appropriate, I offer additional therapeutic approaches, such as guided reflection, imagery, or structured techniques to help you connect more deeply with yourself and discover new ways of making sense of your thoughts, feelings, and inner world.

Together, we’ll explore what you need, working towards easing emotional distress, developing self-awareness, and fostering a greater sense of connection and resilience.

I have experience working with adults facing a range of issues, including bereavement, chronic illness, and trauma, both within NHS and hospice settings. My aim is to offer a grounded, empathic presence to support you in finding your own path toward healing and meaning.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience

I run my own private practice from home, providing clients with a safe, confidential, and supportive environment where they can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences at their own pace. My practice is designed to offer a calm and welcoming space, giving clients the reassurance that they are fully supported throughout their therapeutic journey.

In addition to one-to-one therapy, I facilitate workshops in creative expression techniques, primarily aimed at therapists, counsellors, and other professionals. These workshops introduce practical, hands-on methods such as collage, drawing, and other creative approaches to help professionals support their clients in accessing and expressing emotions when words alone are not enough. My aim is to provide participants with tools they can confidently integrate into their own practice, enhancing their therapeutic work and client engagement.

Training

Throughout my training, I gained practical experience working with adults in NHS outpatient settings and hospice environments, supporting individuals navigating grief, chronic illness, and trauma. These experiences deepened my understanding of the therapeutic relationship and the importance of providing a safe, empathetic space for emotional exploration.

Qualifications

I was lucky enough to study for my BSc (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, which I completed in July 2025.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
