About me

I am a queer therapist, specialising in working with people within the LGBTQ+ community.

Therapy can be a great way to give yourself the time and space, to process and work through your experiences and emotions. It can also be a place to develop coping strategies and make the changes you want to make.

I believe in working with people as individuals, in a way that works for them. I will work alongside you, to help you explore and navigate your issues, experiences, current situations and things that you may be struggling with.

I have experience in supporting people, from a wide range of backgrounds and I create a non-judgmental and supportive environment, where you can be yourself and feel comfortable during our sessions.

I work in a non directive, person centred way. This means that our sessions will be guided by you. We will explore whatever you decide to bring and I will be there alongside you.

If you would like to ask any questions, or book in a free 15 minute chat, please email me on samconnertherapy.co.uk or click the email me button on this page.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified person centered therapist, working in private practice.

I also have worked as a volunteer in an LGBTQ+ organisation, providing therapy to those who needed support.

For a number of years my professional roles have focused upon LGBTQ+ mental health and wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
