About me
I am a Counselling Psychologist and Occupational Psychologist registered with the BPS and HCPC, with over 15 years’ experience helping individuals and organisations create meaningful change. I have my own confidential and comfortable practice room in central Worthing for seeing clients who prefer to meet face to face. I also provide psychotherapy online.
As an integrative practitioner, I draw on a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, enabling my flexibility to support each client's individual needs. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Common to my approach however, is a strong focus on a client's way of relating to others and themselves, and how this may have developed from childhood experience. I seek a natural and authentic relationship with clients, to help this journey of self-exploration feel as safe and nurturing as possible.
Training, qualifications & experience
My clinical experience while working within a range of adult mental health services includes support with relational trauma and relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief, identity crises, domestic abuse, stress and burnout, amongst many others. I have a background of providing therapeutic services within the NHS, for example for NHS staff and people with a diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder.
My organisational psychology background allows me to draw on a different strand of expertise to support work-related mental health, for example imposter syndrome, dealing with redundancy, bullying and job dissatisfaction.
My doctoral thesis explored the differentiating triggers of emotion dysregulation in autism and borderline personality disorder, for the purposes of addressing the under-identification of autism amongst women. I have a professional interest in this area, developed through undertaking considerable clinical work with neurodiverse clients, and diagnostic assessments for specific learning difficulties. I use this expertise to support neurodiverse clients who are navigating environments designed for neurotypical minds.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
