About me
My name is Ruth, and I'm an Integrative Counsellor based in East Devon, UK. I integrate various therapeutic approaches, including Person-Centred, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Transactional Analysis (TA), to create a tailored counselling experience.
I believe you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings and experiences openly. By creating a warm, safe and accepting environment, I will support you as you discover meaningful insights and make changes in your life.
I understand that not everyone comes to counselling because they want to. Sometimes, it can feel like a last resort or a step taken with hesitation. Reaching out for support can be daunting, and it takes immense courage to face the challenges that bring you here. I recognize the bravery it takes to embark on this journey, whether you're here out of necessity or curiosity. My aim is to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
No matter your reason for seeking counselling, I'm here to walk alongside you as a fellow traveller, honouring your courage in each step.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information
Beyond my professional life, I find joy in the imaginative worlds of role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, where creativity and empathy come to life. I'm also an avid fan of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, stories that inspire my belief in resilience and the power of inner journeys. These timeless tales and imaginative worlds explore profound themes of resilience, courage, hope, and the quest for meaning—mirroring the personal journeys we all embark on in real life. In our counselling sessions, I can support you in navigating your journey with compassion and insight, finding strength in the face of adversity and discovering your inner resources.
Whether you're navigating life's challenges, seeking personal growth, or eager to embark on a journey of self-discovery, I'm here to walk alongside you as a fellow traveller, honouring your courage in each step. Together we will create the meaningful changes you seek and craft a story of growth and transformation.
