About me

Due to current circumstances, I am only seeing clients online until the lockdown is lifted. If unsure regarding the online counselling, please give me a call and we can arrange a short online chat so you can see how it works and if you like it.

I provide a warm, confidential and non-judgmental space where together we can explore the reasons that have led you here and increase your awareness.

I believe in the healing power of love and self-compassion. Through a holistic approach I aim to create a safe and supportive space for you to explore some of the barriers that stand in the way of a more fulfilling life.

My approach is tailored to meet your specific needs. I believe it is important to look at your current problems or long-term difficulties in the context of your whole life. My focus is not only on what is expressed in words but also on what the body says.

Effective therapy requires a trusting, mutual relationship where honest and respectful dialogue can take place.

My consulting rooms are in Clapham (SW12) & in Gloucester Road (SW7) and I offer long and short-term counselling both in English and in Italian.

What are the sessions about?

The first session is an initial assessment to explore the issues you would like to work on, and possible ways of addressing them in therapy. You can tell me about yourself and learn a bit more about the way I work to see if you will be comfortable in therapy with me.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are scheduled at a regular time weekly. I have regular reviews to establish how the therapy is going for you, and whether it matches your expectations.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Gestalt trained counsellor. Gestalt psychotherapy and counselling works with the body as well as with the mind and emphasizes how we relate to ourselves, others and the wider environment.

I believe that people have the necessary abilities to face their difficulties. However, when something interrupts this process, often during childhood, we get stuck in some fixed patterns of behaviour and beliefs about ourselves. As a Gestalt therapist, through the exploration of past events and how they are experienced in the present, I aim to raise awareness on how these patterns are still affecting your present life.

I have experience working in the NHS with a broad client base presenting with varied emotional difficulties ranging from anxiety, depression, panic attacks, to low self-esteem, shame, guilt and obsessive behaviour.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and I adhere to their code of ethics.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

(A.Lowen)

Ricevo privatamente a Clapham (SW12) e a Gloucester Road, Kensington (SW7).
