About me

Choosing a therapist is a big step and can feel overwhelming. You may wish to meet with more than one person before it feels right. I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation, to allow you to meet me and for us to decide whether we could work together.

You may be looking for a therapist for many reasons; life might feel too much, you might be feeling depressed, your relationship may have ended, you may be drinking or eating in ways that don’t feel healthy, you may have lost someone close to you or you may be grieving other losses. These are just some of the times in life where the support of a therapist can help.

I offer a totally unconditional space, where you can feel accepted whatever you are sharing. Rather than trying to offer solutions and provide answers, my focus is on developing a deep understanding of what’s going on for you in your life now, and together we will look for the patterns and underlying beliefs that might have been playing out for years. As we work together our relationship will grow, and through gentle reflection on how we relate we might be able to gain more understanding of how you feel and behave with others.

I believe that the safe space of therapy, where you can share the parts of yourself that you can’t normally air and where you won’t be rejected, has the potential to support you in finding a greater sense of self-acceptance and peace. Over time I believe that you will come to accept those parts of yourself that have previously felt too much to bear; and that you will find a new way of being in the world that is stronger and more authentic.

I integrate aspects of mindfulness and positive psychology into my work, and believe that bringing a holistic focus that includes diet, exercise and sleep can support the process of therapy. I have a strong interest in eco-psychology and the way in which a connection with nature and the changing seasons can support us in our growth. I have experience of working with depression, addiction, the impacts of emotional neglect and loneliness in childhood and the challenges of IVF.

I hope that this introduction has been helpful and would welcome any questions you may have; so please feel free to contact me either by phone or by email.

Our sessions together are entirely confidential. I abide by the UKCP Code of Practice, and receive regular professional supervision for my work. I trained at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling and received their Diploma and Masters in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy.
