About me
Starting counselling is a brave step and it takes courage, but each small action – making contact, asking for help, coming to sessions – gives you potential for change. Working with me will be confidential and non-judgemental so you can share anything you need to. You might want to tell me about experiences you haven’t been able to tell anyone else – or you might just need to think things through a bit and decide what to do next.
Personal experiences shaped my work. Having grown up supporting a parent with mental health challenges, I learned the importance of boundaries and calm communication. This understanding, developed through volunteering in advocacy support and working in occupational therapy, gives me the ability to empathise with clients facing the difficulties life can bring us.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained in person-centred counselling and have undertaken professional development that helps me to understand and challenge issues of discrimination, abuse, neurodiversity and more and I have worked with issues around suicide, relationship breakdown, workplace bullying, anxiety and more.
But you are not an issue or a condition. You are a person and I want you to be more comfortable with who you are and the things you need in your life.
The person-centred way of working is all about letting you lead. If something isn’t right for you, we don’t work that way because it doesn’t fit you as a unique person. We will work together to find out what your answers might be, to challenge the automatic assumptions you make about yourself, and to see what you want your future to look like.
