About me

I am Roberta Crescenzo, an experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor offering both short-term and longer-term therapy in South West London and online. I have extensive experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of personal, emotional and relational difficulties.

My approach is integrative, which means I draw on different therapeutic perspectives according to each person’s individual needs, circumstances and goals. I offer a warm, safe and confidential space where you can explore what is troubling you at a pace that feels right for you. Attachment theory is an important part of my therapeutic approach. I am particularly interested in how our early experiences and relationships can influence the way we understand ourselves, relate to others and respond to difficulties in our adult lives. Exploring attachment patterns can help us develop a deeper understanding of recurring relationship difficulties, anxiety, insecurity, emotional responses and ways of coping, while creating opportunities for greater self-awareness and more fulfilling relationships. Alongside attachment-based therapy, I draw on Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, CBT, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness and Transpersonal approaches. I work collaboratively, adapting the therapy to the individual rather than following a fixed model. My aim is to help you make sense of your experiences, understand patterns that may be affecting your present life and develop greater choice in how you respond. I have a long history of working as a counsellor and psychotherapist across the private and voluntary sectors.

I have a particular interest in supporting people experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, inner conflict and the pressures of everyday life, including those trying to balance their emotional wellbeing with working and family life. Therapy can be helpful for many different reasons, and there is no single way of approaching it.

I offer short-term counselling focused on a specific concern as well as open-ended psychotherapy for those who wish to explore deeper or longer-standing patterns.

Whatever brings you to therapy, I believe that feeling understood, respected and safe is an important starting point for meaningful therapeutic work. I place great importance on clarity, professional boundaries and ethical practice, and aim to provide therapy that is thoughtful, respectful and grounded.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
