About me

Thank you for clicking on my profile. My focus is helping people using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioural therapy skills (DBT). As a BABCP (British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies) accredited therapist I am confident and qualified to work with a variety of difficulties such as anxiety, phobias or trauma. My particular interests lie with health anxiety disorder, low self esteem and post traumatic stress disorder, but I am happy to learn about and work through anything you are having difficulties with.

I belong to the queer community and actively enjoy working with LGBT+ individuals - everyone is welcomed in my therapy space. I have spoken with a stammer (stutter) since a young age, and have used this to bring a lived experience of struggling with a disability to my sessions. When we create a shared understanding of your difficulties, background factors like disability, lived experience and history will be valuable in creating a comprehensive and useful formulation.

My clients have told me that they valued the warmth and acceptance I show in my sessions, which is something I am intensely proud of. Other feedback also highlighted my skills at explaining the rationale behind therapy - helping translate scientific research and therapeutic models into practical skills that make sense for your own situation and context. New clients have fed back to me that I was especially warm and welcoming, helping to normalise and validate difficulties that they have been struggling with. Clients who have experienced therapy before said that I was able to bring insight and understanding to the therapeutic intervention they had not accessed before.

I offer sessions in the evening to ensure that sessions are accessible. Therapy is a big step and fitting it into a lunch break or the additional pressure of asking for time off work can be barriers to getting help.

At this point I only offer online sessions using Google Meet, however if you are in the Norwich area and have a safe room to hold sessions I am happy to offer home visits. Standard sessions will last between 50 minutes and an hour, and longer sessions can be requested if desired.

To express interest in working with me please send an email, we can then book an initial session (priced at £30) to establish goals/focus of therapy and start work on a formulation. From there, if work seems like it will be useful and you’d like to continue, we can discuss ongoing support. I look forward to working with you.

What A Session Looks Like

During a session I like to establish an agenda to keep our session on track but your input and ideas are always the priority. Everything we discuss and set as homework will be established collaboratively, and I always see us working in partnership as the very best way to deliver therapy.

The first thing we will do is to establish an agenda and prioritise talking points for this session. We will then review homework, reflections and any questions from the previous session before we continue.

We will spend the bulk of the session on these agenda points, for example "I want to start exposure therapy about spiders", "I need to practice my thought challenging" or "I need a skill for when I feel overwhelmed".

The session will finish by summarising and reflecting on learning and setting homework.

Online sessions are from my home office, which is a clean and confidential space. You might spot some books or miniatures in the background and there will be some artwork on the walls.
