About me

It’s my belief that effective therapy is found in tailoring the type of support most beneficial to each person and this will mean different things for different people.

With this approach in mind, it’s my aim to help you in a way that suits your circumstances, your preferences and even your journey through life as a whole.

Whether you’re needing support with your mental health, help to understand a difficult or confusing relationship, or just need the company of an impartial listener to share your burden with, I invite you to consider if my therapy services might be the help you need.

I offer therapy to anyone over the age of 16, but have particular experience working through traumatic experiences, counselling students and offering bereavement support.

My work is trauma-informed and I am committed to providing a service that’s economically inclusive and LGBTQIA+ affirmative.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an MSc with Distinction in Counselling from the University of Abertay, who are UK leaders in Pluralistic counselling training and research. I’m also certified to provide both online and telephone-based therapies having completed NCS and ACTO-accredited training.

I’m a BACP registered practitioner, having been in practice since 2019 and I currently hold counselling positions with both Crisis Counselling and Wellbeing Scotland in addition to my private practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Pay-it-Forward Initiative

There is also the opportunity to access FREE counselling sessions through the Myriad Counselling Pay-it-Forward Initiative.

Running along-side the typical price-per-session services, the fund provides a full course of counselling to anyone who needs counselling support but can’t meet the associated expense.

The Pay-it-Forward Initiative is primarily funded by the generous donations of individuals who are willing and able to contribute towards aiding someone’s journey into receiving counselling. In addition, 5% of the cost of ALL full-price sessions are automatically added into the fund; meaning you can contribute to helping others while helping yourself.

For more information about the Pay-it-Forward Initiative, including details on how to access the service, please get in touch or visit my website here.
