About me
Hi. My name is Richard, and I am a qualified counsellor and therapist registered with the BACP.
Things can be challenging at times, for many of us, and, whether your problems are current or historic, I am here to help you make sense of them and take back control of your life.
I am an integrative counsellor, allowing me to use a wide range of theories, tailored to meet your individual needs. Apart from the standard office-based and online methods of delivery, I also offer ‘walk and talk’ therapy, allowing you to take in the beautiful surroundings of the Essex countryside as we work together.
Through a free consultation of half an hour, during which we can get to know each other and you can ask me anything you wish, we will make a start on your journey to mental wellbeing, including how the sessions will work going forward.
I have experience working with a wide variety of age groups, having worked with children as a school counsellor, and also out in nature for a charitable organisation, as well as adults in both a clinical and outdoor setting.
I have helped people work through relationship difficulties, bereavement, anxiety, low self-esteem and depression, as well as working with people with ADHD and ASD.
I know it can be difficult to reach out and speak to someone at the beginning, having had my own personal experiences of this. But, when you find the right therapist, the rewards can be life changing.
I look forward to hearing your story and helping you to find your way to happier, healthier times.
Take care and thanks for taking the time to read my listing.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
