BSc (Hons) in Person-Centred Counselling

About me

I’m a registered and experienced person-centred counsellor working with teenagers, young people and adults across Chester, Whitchurch and online. I support people experiencing a wide range of challenges including anxiety, trauma, bereavement, and life transitions, as well as those who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves or others.

Alongside my private practice, I am the founder of a charity supporting high-performance athletes. This work has given me a depth of experience in understanding the psychological demands of performance environments where pressure, identity, resilience, and expectation often intersect. I also work within schools providing counselling to teenagers, supporting them through the complexities and demands of these formative years.

My approach is grounded in person-centred therapy, but I work in a way that is responsive to you as an individual. I’m interested in understanding not just what’s happening for you now but how your experiences, relationships, and patterns may have shaped where you find yourself today.

Whether you’re dealing with something recent or something that has been present for a long time, I offer a space where we can explore this together at your pace and in a way that feels safe, collaborative, and meaningful.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working in both private practice and a secondary school setting, supporting adults and young people with a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.

Alongside my private practice, I am Founder and Head of Therapeutic Services at Support After Sport, supporting individuals from sporting and high-performance backgrounds around identity, pressure, and life transitions.

Working with Adults

In private practice, I support adults with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, stress, low mood, loss, trauma, relationship challenges, and feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

Whatever is important can be brought to sessions and explored at a pace that feels right.

Children & Young People (11–18)

I also work with young people within a secondary school setting, which gives me an understanding of the challenges they may face both at school and at home.

Support is offered for issues such as anxiety, confidence, friendships, identity, and making sense of feelings, in a safe and supportive environment.

Support for Parents

For parents considering counselling for their child, I aim to offer reassurance and clarity around the process.

A safe space is provided where young people can talk openly, while their wellbeing remains the focus. I’m happy to answer any questions to help you decide whether counselling feels right.

Sport & Performance Backgrounds

Through my work with Support After Sport, I have experience supporting individuals from a range of sporting backgrounds.

This includes challenges such as injury, retirement, identity change, performance pressure, and adjusting to life beyond structured environments.

Counselling offers a confidential space to talk openly, process change, and reconnect with a sense of self.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
