Counselling & Supervision , Individuals and Couples

About me

Hello my name is Rhianan. I am a fully qualified Counsellor & Supervisor, working in private practice in the BS3 area.  My main venue  Counselling rooms in Monarch house near North street, BS3 2BX. I am offering telephone, zoom or facetime sessions during the Coronavirus social distancing phase.

I work with individuals as well as couples/relationship/family/friend/work dynamic Counselling and I am a qualified Supervisor able to work with qualified counsellors and student counsellors.

I offer individual clients sessions for £40 per 60 minute session with some concessions available for single parents and student counsellors in training.

Relationship Counselling is £60 for 1 hour or £80 for 1.5 hrs depending on how much you feel you would like I only offer face to face couples counselling not phone or online sessions as this would be less effective.

I work in an integrative way, this means I draw on a variety of approaches and models to best facilitate a safe and healthy space for you to bring in to the room whatever you would like to-with out judgment.

I have worked with a variety of people who have brought a wide spectrum of issues into counselling, including anxiety, relationship and family issues, low self esteem and depression. As well as emotional abuse and narcissistic abuse.I treat each person equally and offer the same core conditions to everyone.

Training, qualifications & experience

MNCS DipHE in integrative Therapeutic Counselling and registered accredited member of the National Counselling Society.

Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

Level 7 Advanced Counselling Supervision.

Certificate in Relationship Counselling

As well as the above counselling qualifications I undertake continuing professional development with a minimum of 30 hours top up training per year on a wide range of areas that will enhance the therapeutic process.

I am fully insured with Holistic Therapy Insurance.

I have experience working with the following presenting issues:

Sexual abuse
Verbal abuse
Emotional abuse
Physical abuse
Post Natal depression
Loss of job
Relationship breakdown
Domestic violence
Eating disorders
Addictive behaviours
Habit/behaviour change
Childhood wounds

This list is not extensive as the modality I draw upon is on the basis of working with the person in the room is the key and the feelings and thought process underneath the core issue rather than get stuck with the presenting issue as a surface subject.

In 2015 I set up a counselling service in Filwood Broadway at Knowle west health association offering long term as long is needed counselling to people who wouldn't normally be able to afford or access long term therapy easily. The service runs on volunteer counsellors both qualified and students on supported placement.

I am also a Counselling Tutor for Chrysalis courses Teaching level 4 in counselling.

Further information

Accessing counselling is not the easiest thing to do. There may be many fears around opening up old wounds, or areas of life that have been buried.  In my experience the very areas we want to avoid and bury are the very ones we need to face and work through, not try to go around or brush under the carpet.   This survival technique can serve us for a while but eventually the things we think we have buried will pop up in unhealthy ways through out our lives and relationships.

Through therapy we can work through these issues in a compassionate and safe environment so a more emotionally healthy life can be lead and patterns and habits that prevent you from living to your full potential, being the best version of yourself can be steadily worked through.

Counsellors are trained to be able to safely hold you as a client with some areas of life you may feel painful, uncomfortable, in shame over, vulnerable or broken. Seeking counselling is the first step to allowing yourself to look at the things buried deep inside- while growing and freeing yourself of the weight of them through the therapeutic process.

Some times there can be scepticism about counselling and whether it works and many factors can feed into this perception, including our own readiness for therapy and our finding the right fit as a client/counsellor.

I encourage you to take the leap or step, depending on how big that step looks at the moment- and give it a try, a real genuine try and begin to explore, heal and grow to the healthiest version of yourself- because its all in there!
