About me
Hi, my name is Reuben and I'm a Person-Centred Therapist. My way of working focuses on developing a safe and effective therapeutic relationship. My aim is to relate to you as closely as possible, to understand what it’s like to be you without judgement, and to be authentic with you even when it’s uncomfortable.
I believe it’s important for clients to choose what explore and take the lead in therapy. Whilst listening I'll highlight feelings and themes that emerge from your lead, occasionally asking questions to make sure I have understood you thoroughly. A sense of trust in our work is essential, and as our relationship becomes stronger we can explore your experiences in detail, to help you gain closure.
My client work has allowed me to work with people dealing with depression, abuse, grief, neurodivergent-identity and domestic abuse amongst other difficulties. A fundamental aspect of my way of working stems from my experience of being a client. I have accessed therapy throughout my childhood, adolescence and early adulthood, and as such have an enormous respect for the courage it takes to come to therapy and explore the painful aspects of our lives.
Prior to becoming a counsellor I spent time working in psychiatric hospitals, halfway houses, and domestic abuse services alongside the GMP. If you'd like to know more about how I can support you, get in touch to arrange a free consultation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
