About me

We all long to be accepted for who we are; To be free from the anxiety of not being ‘good enough’, to heal the mental and sometimes physical symptoms of past trauma, to release ourselves from the strain of difficult relationships and to understand the impact of past or present experiences.

When we gain self-awareness and understanding, we can learn to accept ourselves completely and with that, find the courage within to make changes, if that is what we choose to do.

“When I accept myself just as I am, then I can change” (Carl Rogers)

My name is Becca, and I am a fully qualified Counsellor. I am passionate about the work I do and believe in supporting you in your personal growth and in finding your own unique solutions – You are, after all, the one true expert of yourself.

I am not scared easily; I listen with empathy and non-judgement, I am not afraid to challenge you gently should you need it, and will laugh freely with you. I will stand beside you as you find release from expectations and values imposed on you and discover your authentic self.

“Maybe the journey is not about ‘becoming’ anything; Maybe it is about un-becoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.”  Anon

Testimonials

"I came to Becca after finally realising I had issues with health anxiety, as well as a number of other problems, which were interfering with my life to such an extent that I had lost all focus.

Sessions with Becca were incredibly beneficial from the start, helping me to steadily accept and overcome some of the issues I've been facing. Her ability to hear my problems and then reflect on them in a compassionate, constructive, yet also honest way, has been so helpful. As a result, I've been able to push past and understand some of my worst anxieties. Becca is a fantastic listener, and offers perceptive insights on the things I've talked to her about; insights I couldn't have seen without her. I feel completely at ease in talking with her, and she has helped put me on a more positive path in my life.

If I could sum up my time with Becca I would say she is deeply understanding, kind, and illuminating. I would recommend Becca to anyone in a heartbeat." (Testimonial from C - Hereford)

"Through my work with Rebecca, I have gained valuable insights into aspects of myself that were previously unknown, enabling me to focus my energy on personal growth and self-awareness. I have developed a clearer understanding of my sources of happiness and dissatisfaction and have become more comfortable articulating these feelings. Rebecca demonstrates exceptional empathy and non-judgmental understanding and is consistently approachable. During what has been a challenging period, I have always felt secure in the supportive environment she provides, benefitting from both emotional expression and moments of great levity. There’s zero hesitation from me in recommending Rebecca’s practice". (Testimonial from A - Hereford)

"She came out absolutely buzzed and visibly uplifted. She was a different child yesterday, literally, I could see a weight lifted just from one appointment, so thank you so, so much."   (Testimonial from A. Mum - Leominster)

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified in Counselling to degree level, having studied at Worcester University for my FdSc. Although the main focus of the course was the person-centered approach, I have since expanded on this core knowledge to include many other disciplines, including Compassion Focused Therapy, Focusing, Visualisation, Inner child work and CBT, enabling me to work uniquely and flexibly with each individual client.

As well as working privately across all ages, I worked with Kooth and Area43 for over 5 years, providing counselling in high schools across Powys, and I also with adults at Mind in Hereford.. Over the years, I have supported many neurodivergent people, and I have seen many SEND children with varying levels of special needs, so I am used to adapting my approach according to my clients.

I have had the honor of sharing time with a wide variety of individuals, including people suffering from trauma/PTSD, self-injury and suicidal thoughts, bereavement, eating disorders, insomnia, ASD/ADHD, Tourette’s, anxiety, low self-esteem, family/relationship issues, depression, bullying and people with a high number of ACEs. (Adverse Childhood Experiences).

I am a registered practitioner with We Are Farming Minds, a Herefordshire charity who work tirelessly to improve the mental health of people within the local agricultural community.

My main practice is mostly based in Weobley village, a quiet, rural setting where we have built a dedicated, peaceful room, and where clients can also walk and talk in the gardens or surrounding fields if they choose. I also have weekly use of a lovely therapeutic space in Leominster, should this fit your needs better, as well as working online or via telephone when it is difficult to travel.

For my younger clients, I have more creative / play therapy options available, depending on each unique individual's needs, as well as access to a large garden and fields.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
