About me

Feeling as though you are not enjoying life can be difficult. At Crystal Clear Counselling (part of Trauma Recovery CIC) my team and I provide a safe, non-judgmental place to support you to make permanent changes and fulfill your potential as an individual.

I believe that my extensive experience as a Psychotherapist enables me and my team to provide you with the quality, accessible counselling or trauma-focused therapy that you deserve.

I am the Clinical Lead covering both Trauma Recovery CIC and Crystal Clear Counselling where we offer online counselling and trauma focused therapy to people of all ages both online and in person.

About Me
I have over 20 year’s experience working in Social Care both as an unqualified and qualified Social Worker, supported by a placement with my local CAMHS team and as a Psychotherapist and trauma therapist.

After having my first child in 2007 I decided to continue building upon my therapeutic experience and began a course with Chrysalis.  I hold an Advanced diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling and earned a distinction. I am a senior accredited member of the NCPS and have attended training specifically to support people experiencing trauma symptoms, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), addiction and burn out.

I founded Hertfordshire Therapy Centre in 2011 which became Trauma Recovery CIC in 2020. TRCIC as it is known is a not for profit organisation. We are able to offer a range of funded therapy options (criteria apply) and affordable self funded therapy.

I use my skills and experience to support my team to provide therapeutic support for our local community.

My own experiences of counselling, professionally and personally have led me to be the therapist that I am today. I strongly believe that an eclectic approach to therapy is beneficial as it allows me to tailor sessions to your needs specifically rather than using a one size fits all method of support.

What therapy do I offer?

My team at Crystal Clear Counselling are trained in many different methods and have studied areas such as psychotherapy and psychoanalysis (which focuses on your past), as well as CBT (which looks at how you can make changes in the here and now).  We are also able to offer specific support to those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, as well as stress, anxiety, relationship breakdown and phobias.

We are able to offer both daytime and evening appointments at at present we are offering online sessions via a secure video link and in person appointments in Welwyn Garden City, St Albans and Hemel Hempsted.

At Crystal Clear we offer a wide range of therapies for adults, young people and children. My colleagues are able to offer talking and creative therapies for a range of issues including anxiety, bereavement, feelings of low self esteem and sadness as well as support for adults with a history of domestic abuse and relationship issues.

Training, qualifications & experience

My Experience

I have over 20 year’s experience working in Social Care both as an unqualified and qualified Social Worker, supported by a placement with my local CAMHS team and as a Psychotherapist and trauma therapist. I oversee their training and provide training for external organisations on the subject of trauma and its impact on the individual, their support network and wider society - which includes addiction, self harming behaviours, criminal behaviour, relationships and secondary or vicarious trauma for professionals and supporters.

My team and I specialise in working with clients who have experienced trauma in recently or in their past. I have experience working with domestic abuse, sexual assault and abuse and relational trauma.

I work with Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire SARC service. I developed and run the counselling service for victims of sexual assault in Hertfordshire and have run it for the past 6 years.

I am a qualified, experienced Clinical Supervisor and offer supervision to individuals, groups and organisations.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Anxiety and Panic disorder

I have used my skills and various methods to support clients to overcome anxiety, panic and phobias. One of my first clients had a severe phobia of frogs and we worked to overcome this.

I understand that anxiety can be all consuming and at times it can be difficult to believe that you will ever be able to overcome it. I work patiently with my clients who achieve change in their own time. Overcoming anxiety, panic and phobias can be amazing!

Depression

Depression and depressed moods can affect your view of yourself, your relationships, career and many other areas of your life. Having had both personal and professional experience of depression, I am able to offer you support in this area.

Self-Esteem and Low Self-Confidence

I believe that building up your confidence and self-esteem allows you the mental space to perhaps look at other aspects of you life and become happy and fulfilled.

Anger Management

Anger can cause you and those around you harm, mentally and physically. I am able to offer you support to deal effectively with your anger.

Stress

We have many stressors in our life, bereavement, separation and divorce, work, relationship issues., past traumas are to name but a few. Some stress can be a positive thing, it inspires us to take action. However negative stress can cause you physical harm, as well as emotional. I can work with you to identify your negative stress and support you to achieve positive change.

Trauma

I have worked with individuals who have experienced trauma for the majority of my career. I have a wealth of experience supporting people who have experienced sexual, domestic and relational trauma either recently or in their past. Through training, research, professional and personal experience I have developed a gentle, effective way of supporting people to heal from trauma. I have trained my team at both Crystal Clear Counselling and Trauma Recovery CIC to work in a client centred, gentle way which supports people to understand their trauma, heal from it and live the lives that they choose.

I have a particular interest in supporting you with your anxieties, fear, confidence and self-esteem. I believe that building up your confidence and self-esteem allows you the mental space to perhaps look at other aspects of you life and become happy and fulfilled.
