About me
Welcome! I am a Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered art psychotherapist and supervisor, dedicated to providing personalised services to children, young people, adults, and students in training and mentorship. With extensive experience across diverse groups and settings, I offer a safe and confidential space to explore and overcome a wide range of personal struggles and adversity, both in short-term and long-term therapy. Currently, I serve as the Clinical Arts Psychotherapies Lead within the NHS in South Bedfordshire, CAMHS, bringing significant experience from community and educational settings.
Areas of Expertise
I have supported clients facing various challenges, including:
Mental Health Issues: Anxiety, panic attacks, depression, emotional dysregulation
Personal Challenges: Anger, insecurities, identity challenges, relationship issues, conflict patterns
Life Events: Bereavement, illness, complex trauma, life transitions
Behavioural Concerns: Attachment issues, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts, neurodiversity, hoarding
Therapeutic Approaches
Art Psychotherapy
Art psychotherapy combines art materials with psychodynamic thinking to explore and reflect on feelings related to past and present experiences. This method is particularly effective for trauma, offering a supportive form of expression that engages the right side of the brain. It provides a safe space to express and explore emotions, build emotional resilience, and develop healthier coping strategies. Creativity and imagination help clients discover new perspectives and opportunities for personal growth. If preferred, we can also engage in talk therapy.
Talk Therapy
I offer attachment-based psychotherapy using various client-centred approaches, including psycho-educational methods, mindfulness, and structured skills from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This flexible approach is tailored to meet your specific needs and goals.
No prior experience or skill in art is necessary to benefit from art psychotherapy. The use of art materials is optional and serves as an additional way to understand and communicate feelings. Sometimes, just talking together can be equally beneficial.
My goal is to support you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
I can currently offer EMDR therapy as an EMDR therapist in training (qualifying in May 2025).
EMDR is a psychotherapy technique that helps people heal from trauma and other distressing experiences. EMDR involves moving your eyes in a specific way while processing traumatic memories. The goal is to reduce the distress of memories and help people heal. EMDR is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) for treating PTSD in children and adults. It's also been shown to be effective for treating a range of other mental health conditions, including phobias, anxiety disorders, grief, and chronic pain.
Fees for EMDR differ, please enquire for further information.
