About me

Hello and welcome.

I am an experienced Psychodynamic counsellor, with a practice in both Cirencester and Cheltenham.

You may be reading this if you are struggling with some aspect of your life at the moment. Perhaps you have been through a difficult life event or you are having problems with family relationships, friends or work colleagues. You may be struggling with your emotions, feeling low or anxious, or feel like an outsider and that no one understands you.

My role in counselling is to guide and support you. I offer a warm, confidential, and safe space where you can talk freely without being judged. Working together, we can explore where your feelings are coming from and then work towards positive change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am experienced in helping clients with a variety of issues including stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, anger, and work or relationship-based problems.

Prior to training as a counsellor, I spent over 25 years working in management within large and small business organisations and charities. During this time I had a special interest in coaching, mentoring and employee mental health. It is a great privilege to be able to bring this experience into my psychoanalytical training and work.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and work according to their ethical framework. I qualified from Gloucestershire Counselling Service (GCS) with a diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (training accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council) and I continually participate in further professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Initial consultation (60 mins)

If you would like to get in touch, we can arrange an initial consultation at a mutually convenient time. During this session, we can explore what brings you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it. You can also use this opportunity to decide if this is the best option for you. The fee is £55.

Ongoing sessions (50 mins)

Regular weekly sessions at the same time each week. It is difficult to know the number of sessions you may need or how long you may want to continue. You will be able to influence the pace of the counselling and, together, we will regularly review your progress and your thoughts about the work. The fee is £55 per session.
