About me
Hello, I’m Rachel. Thank you for being here, I appreciate looking for someone to share your story with can be daunting. Come as you are, there is no judgement here and your journey matters. I have worked in the education, send and mental health sector for the past 15 years, including a college, GP practice, and university setting. I support young people and adults who feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or disconnected following intense life experiences. I also work as a bereavement counsellor for a local charity. Please message if you are struggling with grief, loss, huge life changes, family issues or feeling completely overwhelmed.
My practice offers a calm space where you can pause and reflect on whatever is happening in your life. I work in a person-centred way, meaning our sessions are led by you and shaped around what feels most important and meaningful to explore. If you need a place to off load all your thoughts, you have reached the right place.
Your story really matters to me, when you are ready, we can begin wherever you are in your journey.
Training, qualifications & experience
In 2014 I began my career in the education sector as a teacher, special needs teacher and mentor. I also worked for a children's mental health company
I preferred working 1:1 with people, supporting them on their journey with whatever they wished to achieve and found it a privilege to listen and help. So I trained as a therapist and incorporated the training and skills into various roles over the years.
- BA Degree in Performing Arts
- PGCE in lifelong learning
- MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy
Despite my educational training; i'm a mum, grew up in a blended family and have lots of life experiences that have shaped me into the woman I am today and sometimes its not always been easy or pretty. I really value your time and energy to be present with me.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
