About me
Hi, I’m Rach and I use She/They pronouns. Firstly, I’d like to acknowledge you, in finding your way here. Taking those first steps might be feeling a bit daunting, and trying to find a counsellor that you connect with can feel scary.
On being human…
At the heart of my counselling, I am a human being first, counsellor second. My own journey has shaped the way I listen and connect, giving me a deeper sense of empathy and compassion. I’ve known nights that felt endless, edges that seemed impossible to face, and moments where the weight of it all felt too much. These experiences allow me to meet people with a depth of connection and understanding that goes beyond words. Counselling with me isn’t about polished perfection, it’s about daring to be real in a world that often asks us to hide. Together, we can sit with the raw, messy, and beautiful parts of being human, and find a way forward that feels true for you.
On being a counsellor…
I am a qualified Person-Centred counsellor dedicated to supporting you on your unique journey. I have a firm belief that everyone is their own expert and that sometimes we simply need the right kind of support to safely explore what is happening for us.
My role isn’t to give answers or to fix, but to offer a steady, compassionate space where you can explore what’s happening for you. My work is also shaped by training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which deepens the way I stay present with emotions as they arise. This allows us to notice together what unfolds in the moment, whether that’s struggle, tenderness, or possibility, and to meet it with care.
On being part of the LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse community…
As someone who is both part of the LGBTQIA+ community and neurodiverse, I hold a deep commitment to working with people whose lives don’t always fit neatly into society’s expectations. I know that living openly or simply being yourself can take immense courage, vulnerability, and integrity, and that this often comes with feelings of stress, fear, isolation, or exhaustion, sometimes intensifying the challenges we already carry. I also recognise how working on ourselves can feel complicated, especially when it clashes with the messages we’ve received from family, friends, or the wider world.
In our work together, I offer a safe, inclusive, and affirming space where all parts of you are welcome, without fear of judgment, discrimination, or assumption. My approach is queer-affirmative, neurodivergent-affirming, and trauma-informed. I also value the power of creativity, whether through art, stories, or other forms of expression, as ways of exploring, healing, and making meaning.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked within health and wellbeing for over eight years, within places like Mind and the NHS. I am a registered Person-Centred counsellor with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), which means I adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. My practice is fully insured and strictly confidential.
My professional training includes:
- Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy Immersion
- Level 4 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling
- Level 3 Certificate in Person-Centred Counselling
- Level 2 Certificate in Person-Centred Counselling
- Domestic Abuse
- Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- LGBTQIA+
- Neurodiversity
- Suicide Awareness
- Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
Other work I’m involved in…
I have an understanding of the diverse experiences within the LGBTQ+ community. I also work as the LGBTQIA+ Lead and Social Prescriber in a Primary Care Network of GP Practices. In this work, I embrace a creative and collaborative approach that challenges perceptions of ‘normal’, encourages increased staff LGBTQIA+ awareness in healthcare through training, supporting LGBTQIA+ patients directly and pushing boundaries with queer activism.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Supporting families, friends, and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community
I also work with families, partners, and friends of LGBTQIA+ people. It can feel overwhelming when someone you care about comes out and you’re unsure how best to support them, or when you want to be affirming but are navigating your own questions, fears, or adjustments. Counselling can offer a space to explore these feelings without judgment, deepen your understanding, and build the confidence to support your loved one in ways that truly help them feel seen and accepted.

Further information
Where possible I will do my best to accommodate clients around their commitments.
My counselling room is accessed via steps into the building and a flight of stairs to the therapy space. I recognise this may not be accessible for everyone, so I also offer online sessions for those who prefer or require them. If in-person sessions are important for you but accessibility is a barrier, please let me know. I am open to exploring alternative spaces to make therapy possible.
