About me

Hello and thanks for stopping by to look at my profile.

I’m Rachael, an Integrative Counsellor. I understand how difficult it can be to make that first step in contacting a counsellor. The fact you are here tells me there is something about your life that is making you unhappy, stressed or anxious.

About the way I work:

I offer a safe, confidential space for you to explore your difficulties without fear of judgement. As an Integrative Counsellor I am experienced in a number of different therapeutic approaches, including CBT. I also offer psychodynamic therapy, looking at how past events may be driving current behaviours and patterns, and person centred counselling which is a more traditional ‘talk therapy’.

After understanding your current situation I can use one, or a combination of these modalities to help you to change your unwanted thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

Counselling is a collaborative process and I will work at your pace.

About the clients I work with

As a unique individual with a unique life story I believe that you deserve an individual therapeutic experience and I don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach. My clients tell me that I make them feel heard, supported and safe.

Most of my clients have experienced past trauma which has led to them suffering from anxiety, including disorders such as OCD and PTSD. I am also an experienced bereavement counsellor having volunteered at a hospice since 2015.

If you are still reading something in my profile must resonate with you so I invite you to contact me for an initial conversation about your issues. From there you can decide whether you feel comfortable with us working together.

What to expect in the first session:

The first session is an introductory consultation so that we can make sure we are the right fit for working together. It is an opportunity for you to tell me a little bit about what has brought you to counselling and it allows me to share with you more about the way I work and how counselling can help you. If we decide we are going to work together I will ask you to sign my contract and we will then book in your first session.

My areas of expertise:

I have worked extensively in the areas of bereavement, stress & anxiety, and trauma. I am also an affiliate of Menopause Experts and run a Facebook group for midlife women suffering from menopausal symptoms.

The majority of my clients contact me because they are experiencing unwanted thoughts, emotions, behaviours and memories that are causing them difficulties. I am experienced in helping clients with repetitive, unwanted thoughts and memories which are often a result of abuse.

Common presenting issues are anxiety, depression, insomnia, low confidence and self esteem, social anxiety and feeling sad.
