About me

Hello, I am Preya and I am ready to support and work with you on your therapeutic journey.

I believe the therapeutic relationship to be key to healing. This means I focus on creating a comfortable and safe environment for you to share your feelings, thoughts and experiences during our sessions.

I provide a safe and professional environment for past experiences to be re-experienced and available for us to work together to understand and challenge these patterns of behaviours. I aim to help you with your personal growth journey by listening to why you are seeking therapy, discussing your goals and deciding together on the steps we will take. I have experience working with a range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, abuse, relationship struggles, stress, trauma and many more.

As a British born, South Asian therapist, I recognise the importance of contextual factors, intersectional background, culture and diversity and understand how these impact our being in the world. My approach acknowledges and embraces the difficulties you experience because of your unique circumstances.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working in numerous mental health settings supporting both young adults and adults. I have experience working with, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, family issues, bereavement, stress, trauma and low self-esteem. I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist, accredited by the UKCP, working from a perspective that focuses on relationships and personal growth.

My fascination for understanding how the mind works and how people think and feel, led me to pursue a degree in Psychology. To support my work in improving mental health, I completed my masters training in Integrative Psychotherapy. My training has allowed me to learn and appreciate the uniqueness of challenges we face in life and how to support change and greater wellbeing.

I have worked across a range of settings, including the public sector and charitable organisations, giving me a diverse range of experience. I have had the privilege of supporting neurodiverse young people facing personal challenges, as well as working with adults who have experienced abuse, complex trauma, and those within psychiatric settings. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the complex factors that shape our mental health and how healing can take many forms.
