About me
Experiencing relationship troubles? Whatever you're currently going through, together we can address it to create the love you want.
I’m trained in Transactional Analysis (4 years training in this 70-year old and ever evolving school of psychology) and use this to explore with you and your partner your relationship patterns and internal worlds to reveal the patterns that limit the love you want to create.
Relationships difficulties tend to follow very similar patterns and themes. We can learn to spot these, to hear each other and our partner's perspective, and to identify the root cause of our difficulties. Like a splinter, we can remove that root for greater peace, contentment and potency in our relationships.
What I offer
- Couples "MOT": a check-in with each other and some quality time to understand each other better at a deeper level.
- Couples therapy: working on some of the deeper-seated issues, or working towards an ending.
My method
Weekly sessions, plus access to the "Couple X-Ray" online profiling tool, which we can use in our sessions where helpful.
With me you'll get a two-way conversation. Mostly I listen to you both, very carefully, and also at times share theory & visual models (from your profile) to illuminate and help you understand yourself and your relationship patterns.
I always intend to be warm, non-judgemental and supportive. From that perspective we'll work together to resolve the unhelpful aspects of your individual and relationship "Script".
What is your "Script"? This is our overarching but unconscious roadmap for how we are, what others are like, and how life shall be lived. Humans learn from experience and need to make sense of their experiences; so early on we unconsciously form a "Life Script" (without a storyline children get lost). Trouble is, that Script may well be limiting you in your adult relationships. As well as looking at communication styles and unhelpful patterns, we'll tackle this core Script underlying them.
We'll focus on:
- What goes on inside you and your partner individually: Getting to know all aspects of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours uncovers where things might be stuck.
- What goes on between you: repetitive behavioural patterns attempt to fulfil our need to be seen, heard, loved. However often instead they reinforce negative feelings and beliefs and mask the direct expression of thoughts and emotions.
Through these methods we come to understand what you've experienced and how your relationship functions as a result. This helps you learn to accept yourself and your partner, or decide to change what you want to change.

You’re welcome to email me with any questions or to discuss your needs and wants. I look forward to hearing from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
- BSc Hons Psychology (1st class)
- Advanced Pg.Diploma in Psychotherapy (Level 7)
- Pg.Diploma in Counselling (Advanced Transactional Analysis, Level 6)
My original degree was a BSc in Psychology, before a twenty-year career in law, business and marketing. I then returned to my passion of psychology and working with people via 4 years of masters-level training:
1) 7 years of my own personal psychotherapy – I list this first as I believe the effectiveness of any therapist is strongly linked to the level of their own self-awareness. I've been through weekly psychoanalysis and Transactional Analysis before and throughout my 4 year training.
2) Advanced Pg.Diploma in Psychotherapy (Level 7) – Masters level training going deep into human experience and development. I'm accredited by the NCPS and working towards my Certified Transactional Analyst qualification and accreditation by the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
3) Pg.Diploma in Counselling (Advanced Transactional Analysis, Level 6) – a three-year formal training course giving a solid grounding in human development, internal experience and practical therapy skills.
4) BSc Hons Psychology (1st class) – the academic scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behaviour. This does not qualify anyone to practice with clients; I list it to show my background and long-term interest.
This is a robust and effective training that allows me to understand how people uniquely develop in and respond to the world and so help you to understand and change the things you want to.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I love working with couples and bring an approach that's compassionate, neutral and theoretical (if you want that). We'll use my online "X-Ray" based on Transactional Analysis psychology to map your personalities and relational patterns and help us unravel them to create less angst and more love.
