About me

Are you struggling with anxiety or depression, low self esteem and self confidence, relationships with others, or have you experienced events in childhood or as an adult which are impacting you now? Perhaps you are experiencing difficulties related to your health, or are struggling because of something distressing you went through or you have experienced a brain injury that impacts you now. You may also be neurodivergent and looking for support in areas of life that do not take into account the strengths of being autistic or having ADHD.

Have you experienced therapy where you felt your needs were not adequately met or you were being "fitted into a box? Did therapy just focus on the here and now?

You may not understand the way you are feeling and how to change this, and I want to work with you on looking at why past experiences may have contributed towards this. Together we can start to look at your current difficulties and begin to make some changes that will improve how you are feeling now, and over the longer term.

In some services, therapy can leave people feeling like they are failing and not focusing on what they want to. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is essential for helping clients, I am a calm and grounding therapist and my main priority is for the person with me to feel understood and able to safely explore their difficulties. I use EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Schema Therapy to help you towards positive change.

Often our present problems are rooted in how our nervous system learnt to cope in the past and the therapies I use can help to heal that and restore balance to your nervous system. As well as past difficult events, I focus on working with stress, life and work coaching support as well.

Starting therapy can be challenging and what you can expect is for me to make you feel at ease and our first session is often us getting to know each other and gathering some information at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Often sessions are weekly and treatment can range from anywhere 10 sessions for less complex issues to longer. We will discuss this at the start and consider your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained in CBT at postgraduate level at the University of Reading, but have specialised now in EMDR, Attachment Informed EMDR, Schema Therapy, and integrate Internal Family Systems to focus on the attachment relationship with clients, helping them see that they are not a problem but that there are just different parts of them trying to cope with what they have experienced in life.

I completed my EMDR training with Matt Wesson and EMDR Academy and I am also trained in attachment informed EMDR with Mark Brayne, and IFSiEMDR with Annabel McGoldrick which is the integration of Internal Family Systems and EMDR. I have completed further training with EMDR for Traumatic Brain Injuries with Dr Michelle Morrissey, and Neurodivergent EMDR for autism and ADHD with Caroline van Diest.

I have also completed my Schema Therapy training with the Schema Therapy School. I am also starting in the spring, Level 1 Internal Family Systems therapy training with IFS UK.

I have experience of working in many areas of mental health but specialise in working with trauma in adults and veterans. This can be single event trauma or complex trauma and abuse in childhood and adulthood.
