About me
Sometimes life can be overwhelming. You may be experiencing difficulties within your relationships, problems at work, a bereavement or loss or anxiety or self esteem issues. There may be something from your past affecting your present or there may not be anything specific but you just feel you would like some extra support at this time.
To find life difficult at times is the most human thing in the world, and it happens to all of us at some point in our lives, However, there are times when we cannot make sense of the things that are happening to us, and the difficulties can appear impossible and overwhelming to overcome by ourselves.
Having someone there who will listen without judgement, and will not feel the need to fix things, can be just what we need. With this person alongside us we can begin to discuss and explore, finding our own solutions and answers. Gaining an insight into ourselves and our difficulties, then finding the ability to see ourselves in a different light. Making sense of our issues in a new way and beginning to create positive changes in our lives.
Hi, I am Peter, I know that thinking about counselling may be one of the hardest decisions you will take. Counselling offers a unique space for you to explore your life difficulties: including - relationships, addictions, life purpose, work, bereavement, loss and trauma to name a few. It can also help with more difficult issues like mood disorders including - depressions, social anxiety, generalised anxiety, health anxiety and PTSD
What I can provide for you is an empathetic, confidential and safe place where you are able, at your pace, to talk and share whatever is troubling you at this moment in time and what had bought you to seek counselling. I can offer face to face counselling, home visits and can also offer online and telephone sessions throughout the UK.
I understand that everyone's life experiences are unique and that some decisions are made which are later regretted or may ultimately not be as helpful or healthy. I can help you navigate these, offering alternative insights and coping strategies.
I understand money and time is precious and thus I can offer a discounted rate for students and Blue Light card holders. I am confident you will be able to see lasting changes within a few sessions.
I am based in Wimborne but can offer online and telephone sessions to anyone country wide. I offer a free initial 20 minute consultation in which you can get to know a little about me before making your decision. There are times in everyone's life when we we need a helping hand or a supportive, caring listening ear. I aim to provide you with that support. Counselling could provide you with a safe space in which you can talk openly about problems or difficulties in your life.
I am registered with the ethical body BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I have experience in working with trauma, bereavement, including bereaved through suicide and a wide range of mental health issues.
My approach is primarily person-centred though I can offer other modalities which includes walking therapy, using nature to help with the process. I see each client as a unique individual and work with them in whatever way that best suits their needs. There is no 'one size fits all' in therapy, it should be as unique as you.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
