About me

I have chosen to work exclusively with couples and have many years of experience working as a Couple Counsellor and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist with a wide range of couples.

I work online and will provide you with a reliable and confidential space, giving you time to reflect, with me on your thoughts and feelings as a couple.

Being in a relationship can be both challenging and painful at times and can leave you feeling uncertain about the future. There are many different challenges that may be linked to commitment, children, family life, work, illness, or retirement, to name just a few.

Working psychodynamically helps to understand the patterns and dynamics that occur both on the surface and unconsciously. This can help make sense of when a relationship feels stuck or patterns that seem to repeat with no change seeming possible.

I will think with you about these dynamics to increase our shared understanding and to consider what might be possible moving forward.

Training, qualifications & experience

Initially, I trained and qualified with Relate and worked for them and the Gloucestershire Counselling Service for several years as a couple counsellor.

I then studied for and gained an MA in Psychoanalytic Couple Therapy with Tavistock Relationships/ University of East London, where I now work, combined with my Private Practice exclusively for couples.

I am a member of the BPC

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Additional information

I will always consider fees with the couple when we meet and have some flexibility depending on circumstances.

Further information

I think about and work with issues such as childhood traumas, abuse, personal illness or depression, which may seem confined to an individual. These will impact on a relationship and are thus often important to think about within Couple Therapy.
