About me
Counsellor and Supervisor in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire | Online counselling UK
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, at a crossroads, or struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, or low self-confidence, counselling can offer a safe and supportive space to help you move forward. While we cannot change the past, we can change how it affects us now and begin to create meaningful and positive change in our lives.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Together, we can make sense of what is happening for you, develop healthier coping strategies, and strengthen emotional resilience and confidence. This may include working with anxiety, low mood, bereavement, relationship difficulties, suicidal thoughts, neurodiversity, or times of significant life change.
I specialise in grief and bereavement counselling, and also work regularly with anxiety and depression. Many people also come to therapy simply because they want to feel more understood, more grounded, and more able to cope with life.
I work as an integrative counsellor, drawing on person-centred, existential and Gestalt approaches. This means therapy is tailored to you as an individual, rather than a one-size-fits-all method.
I trained at York St John University and have experience working with York Mind and within GP practice settings. I also run bereavement cafés and take part in community and research work, supporting connection, healing and emotional recovery.
I work with adults and young people aged 16 and over. I am fully DBS checked and work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, with regular supervision and ongoing professional development.
In addition to therapy sessions, I offer a free 20-minute consultation to explore what you would like from counselling and whether we feel comfortable working together.
I offer sessions in-person at Rest Relax and Restore in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, as well as online counselling and walk-and-talk therapy.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Testimonial:
I've grown so much thanks to Pauline and I would recommend her services to anyone seeking therapy. She creates a safe, non-judgemental environment which allows clients to explore therapy at their own pace. She has an incredible ability to put you at ease, whilst challenging thoughts and feelings to get to the root causes of behaviour. Working with Pauline was such a positive experience and I came away from each therapy session feeling like I had learnt something about myself. She is a warm, kind, genuine person and I will happily use her again if and when I need professional support.
Harriet. :)
