About me
My name is Paula, I am a therapeutic counsellor with seven years of experience in personal and couple therapy. My work is relational - I help people understand how they connect with others and themselves. Much of my work is with couples in the thick of the parenting years or partners from different cultural backgrounds - couples who find themselves in cycles of arguments without solutions. My understanding of relationships shapes my one-to-one work - maybe you find yourself repeating the same old patterns and want to find a way towards personal change.
Using emotionally focused and attachment based approaches, I can tailor my work to your needs. Working online means I can support you from a space that you feel comfortable in. Together, we can find a way forward.

Couples Therapy:
Being stuck in the same argument, unable to find a solution together can put a strain on the love and connection you have for each other. Parenting, life transitions, managing different values and expectations are only some of the triggers for potential conflicts in couples. Maybe this is something you are experiencing, too?
This is the heart of my work with couples — helping partners step out of those painful cycles into something calmer and safer. Together, we can understand your current relationship dynamics and change the tune of your dance, rebuilding a safer connection that strengthens your relationship and love for one another.
To support this process, I use a variety of tools from emotionally focused therapy, helping you explore your own underlying feelings as well as your partner’s.
I have experience in supporting couples with:
- Parenting and how it affects your relationship
- Partners struggling with mental health
- Couples navigating life with children who have additional needs
- Couples from multicultural backgrounds - how this affects your relationship and parenting values
- Partners with differences in values or beliefs
- Emotional disconnection
- Communication struggles - not feeling heard or understood by your partner
Personal Therapy
Do you feel a sense of overwhelm and stress? Maybe you are going through the motions of day-to-day life, wondering what happened to the person you used to be?
In one-to-one therapy, I offer a safe and exploratory environment where we can work together to understand what is going on for you. There is no judgement, no pressure, just a space for you to learn about yourself.
Many of the people I work with are seeking to better understand their relationships with partners, family members, friends or themselves. Using psychodynamic approaches, we can explore how your inner world and past experiences have shaped you and how that affects your relationships.
I can support you with:
- Low mood and depression
- Anxiety and worry
- Stress - at work, at home, or both
- Relationship difficulties with partners, family or friends
- Multicultural experiences and struggles
- Identity exploration
- Increasing emotional awareness
For Trainee Counsellors
Having trained as a counsellor myself, I know how much personal therapy adds up while you're studying. I keep a small number of reduced-fee places for trainees needing personal therapy as part of their course. Do get in touch to check whether sessions with me will count towards your course requirements.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
