Counselling Psychologist, HCPC

About me

You might find yourself stuck in familiar patterns - giving more than you get, feeling unseen, or questioning if you're ever truly "enough". Maybe you keep things going on the outside, while inside you feel lonely and overwhelmed. Perhaps you're tired of feeling stuck in ways you can't explain, yet unsure how to shift it. These patterns often have deep roots in early experiences such as childhood trauma, emotional neglect, inconsistent care, family issues, or growing up with violence or abuse. Even when there are no words, your body still remembers - this can lead to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, and relationship difficulties.

I'm a Counselling Psychologist offering a psychoanalytic and relational informed approach. Together we'll explore how your past may be influencing your present, helping you make sense of what's brought you to this point and begin to shift the patterns that no longer serve you - creating freedom in how you live, feel, and connect with others and yourself.

For couples, this approach helps uncover the deeper emotional patterns that fuel conflicts and disconnection. By exploring how each partner's history shapes the relationship, therapy can help rebuild trust, create sense of safety, and foster clearer communication - so each of you can feel heard, understood, and better able to meet each other's needs.

In addition to therapy, I offer clinical supervision for both trainees and qualified practitioners.

I offer evening and weekend sessions for those who need time and space separate from daily demands. We'll start with a brief call to see if it feels like a good fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • MSc Psychology of Mental Health (Merit) from University of Edinburgh
  • MSc Counselling and Psychotherapy (Distinction) from Keele University
  • Doctorate in Counselling Psychology From Teesside University

I have worked extensively within the primary and secondary NHS psychology services, the justice system, drug and alcohol services, schools, and secondary adult mental health care settings. I am a registered clinical supervisor on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course.

I have developed and run educational groups focused on emotional regulation, helping people make sense of their thoughts, emotions, body responses, and behaviours. When appropriate, I integrate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) into the work.
