About me
Hi and welcome!
I'm Ona and I'm an integrative counsellor which means that I use a range of therapeutic approaches to support you (person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT). I know that life can feel overwhelming at times especially when juggling competing priorities that can make you feel burned out. If you’re struggling with significant life events right now you’re not alone. Reaching out for help is a courageous first step towards getting the support and help that you need.
Whatever has led you to consider counselling—know that you’ve reached a pivotal moment. It's ok if your pathway forward seems unclear. That’s completely normal! You don't have to have it all figured out.
So you're probably wondering in what ways I can help and support you on your journey?
I have extensive experience of supporting clients with a range of challenges and difficulties. These include but are not limited to
Parents of Children with Special Educational Needs, Mental Health and Well-Being, Trauma, Neuro Diversity, Bereavement, Domestic abuse, Relationship Difficulties, Parenting Issues and more...
It can be hard to process your feelings or to make sense of your internal and external experiences on your own and this is why I believe that finding the right counsellor who truly sees and understands you is crucial.
Here, you’ll discover a safe, confidential, and welcoming space free from judgment or shame. My approach is entirely collaborative, meaning that we work together to identify your needs, understand your experiences, that supports your journey.
Counselling isn’t about giving you quick answers or prescribing advice. Instead, it’s about empowering you to explore your own solutions and developing resilience and self awareness. Whether this relates to past trauma, life stressors, or unmet emotional needs—counselling can help you transform how you understand and engage with your life and that of others.
My background in public sector and advocacy has equipped me to navigate and have an awareness of diversity and inclusion, with specific understanding around cultural sensitivity and an appreciation of the unique backgrounds and journeys that shape individuals' lives. I would particularly welcome clients with children with special educational needs, those that are neurodiverse and from marginalised communities as I understand the importance of representation within these communities who would otherwise be excluded from accessing therapeutic support because of the unique barriers that they face.
How do I work & what to expect?
Our first session together involves me asking questions to learn more about you and your background and to discuss your expectations of therapy and any previous experience if at all any and your goals for counselling. This process will help clarify this.
We’ll also explore how I can best support you and consider how many sessions you may need initially and review the work undertaken periodically. This session is also a great opportunity for you to ask questions and for me to explain boundaries and contracting which informs the way we will work together.
Where do I work?
In terms of accessibility of sessions, I work primarily online, and can also work with clients who prefer to have therapy by phone.
Availability
I have appointments available in January 2025 on Mondays and Wednesdays with some evening appointment slots for online work during the weekends.
If you think we will be a great fit to work together, text, call or email for your 'FREE 20 CONSULTATION; and look forward to connecting with you.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
