About me

Hello, I’m Oliver Davies, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Market Drayton. I work with adults, young people, and couples, offering in-person and online sessions.

What I Can Help With
You may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, struggling with grief or relationship difficulties, navigating family tensions, or carrying emotional wounds from earlier in life. Maybe you’re simply feeling lost and unsure what needs to change—but you know something does. I aim to offer a supportive and non-judgemental space where we can explore your experience, find clarity, and begin to move forward.

My Approach
I take an integrative approach to therapy with a humanistic, person-centred foundation. This means I work collaboratively with you—believing that you already hold the capacity for change within you. My role is to offer empathy, structure, and thoughtful guidance as we explore your experiences—untangling difficult emotions, unpicking stuck patterns, and supporting your journey toward relief and resilience.

I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches—including systemic therapy, solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic insights, and elements of CBT and DBT—where they are best appropriate for you.

I work with adult clients, teens, and couples. I also have extensive experience supporting people through intercultural or cross-cultural challenges, having lived overseas for over 25 years. If your concerns fall outside my scope, I will always do my best to refer you to a specialist who may be better placed to help.

I maintain a personal commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth, regularly engaging with a wide range of therapeutic literature, current research, and specialist training well beyond the minimum required. This allows me to work thoughtfully and flexibly, adapting to the unique needs of each person I work with.

Counselling and psychotherapy is a professional path I came to after years in education and corporate fields, and it’s one I feel deeply at home in. I draw from extensive and varied life experience and genuinely hold compassion and understanding for people from all walks of life, all of us perhaps struggling in their own unique ways.

Appointments
Sessions last for 60 minutes and are usually held weekly, though some clients prefer fortnightly or flexible arrangements. I offer both in-person sessions in Market Drayton and online sessions via secure video call.

Online therapy can be equally effective and may be preferable for those balancing work, family commitments, or social anxiety.

I provide a free, no-obligation 20-minute initial consultation so we can get a feel for whether working together feels like a good fit.

Take a look at my website and feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
