About me
As you are reading this you are likely to be experiencing the debilitating effects of anxiety, depression and/or distressing reactions to painful or traumatic events.
You have already taken the first difficult step by looking for help.
My priority is to support people to say what they need to say and I listen without judging or giving opinions. I support people to find the ways that are right for them to address the things that are causing distress. This means each person gradually finds the path forward that works for them in dealing with the particular issues they face.
As I'm experienced in a wide range of therapies so I'm able to offer different approaches as appropriate for different individuals. I tailor both the methods I use and the pace I work at to each person’s needs and preferences
In the film 'The King's Speech' the therapist who helped the unsure monarch overcome his anxiety and severe stammer used methods that were new at the time and deemed unconventional. But they were based on sound evidence and they worked.
The techniques I use are also relatively new and unconventional. They work powerfully yet gently, even when addressing major trauma. I became interested in these methods because of the astounding benefits I gained from them for myself and the benefits I saw others gain.
I experienced a struggle with major depression and anxiety for many years. It was through my own search for ways out of my emotional pain that I became deeply interested in how our minds work. I eventually had the opportunity to train as a counsellor and then as a psychotherapist. Following 15 years experience I added to my skills by qualifying as an EFT Practitioner (Emotional Freedom Technique involves the client tapping on their own acupuncture points during talking therapy) and qualifying as an Energy Psychotherapist.
Please take advantage of a free half hour consultation to discuss your needs before making a decision about starting therapy with me. I aim to tailor the methods I use and the pace I work at to each person’s needs and preferences.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
