About me

Counselling is an incredible journey.  Not always an easy one but definitely beneficial.

Counselling allows you to explore your thoughts and feelings, openly and honestly.  Without pressure, judgement or feeling like a burden.

I have a lot of experience working with trauma and abuse.

Talking with a Counsellor can help to build your self-esteem, increases your self-awareness, improves communication, boosts your resilience and allows you to better manage your mental health.

You may feel a massive sense of relief as you start the counselling process.

Being listened to and understood is really powerful.

I work with a wide range of issues including generalised anxiety disorder, anxiety, depression, irritability, trauma, abuse, ADHD, relationship problems, self-esteem issues, self-loathing, self-confidence, anger issues, sadness issues, eating disorders (recently qualified), addiction, grief and loss, suicidal thoughts and ideation, self-harm, work-related issues, family issues and lots more.

I have recently qualified in EMDR.  If you have experienced a traumatic or shocking event that is still impacting your life then this may be the therapy for you.

When we experience a shock or trauma we move out of the cognitive/thinking part of the brain into the survival part of the brain.  Due to this, the memories become fragmented and are not processed properly.  This can lead to flashbacks, nightmares, triggers, PTSD and generally feelings of fear and stress.

EMDR allows you to go back to the memory and process it properly.

Counselling is an empowering process of self-exploration, self-discovery and insights.

I have a lot of experience working with trauma, PTSD and all forms of abuse.

I am not the expert on you, you are.

I work as a therapist at the Meridian Business Park, Leicester and my aim is to offer you hope.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the BACP and Ayanay Psychological Accreditation.

I have enjoyed the experience of working with both men and women.

I have worked closely with depression,  anxiety, stress, domestic violence,  abuse and trauma.

I have taken various CPD’S (Continuing Professional Development) in trauma, how trauma affects the body, PTSD and the nervous system ie; fight or flight, plus various other training in Solution Focused Therapy and pre-trial therapy to expand my knowledge.

The power of talking therapy never ceases to amaze me.

It literally transforms people's lives and the beauty is, it all comes from you, the client.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
