About me

Hi I’m Nicola ! I am a fully registered BACP counsellor. I I work as an Integrative Therapist, meaning I incorporate different types of therapy; person-centred, psychodynamic, existential and cognitive behavioural therapy I have  completed a Level One training in Internal Family Systems ( IFS) and this is a  part of my approach. I also hold a certificate in Adoption Support from the  Albany Centre.

I aim to build a strong therapeutic relationship where clients can feel safe to talk about the feelings and beliefs which are holding them back and causing depression and anxiety. I have experience working with eating disorders, ADHD , depression , anxiety, stress, trauma, domestic abuse , low self esteem and complicated grief and long term debilitating illness.I have worked as a bereavement counsellor offering a safe space to mourn a loved one  and eventually to move forward incorporating that experience into the rest of life. I also work with couples who want time to work through difficulties or just to improve their relationship.

I have a particular interest in offering support to those who have been adopted and am sensitive to the difficulties this can throw up at any time of life. I also work with those who are considering adopting or who have adopted and are in need of support.

I work in an NHS setting offering long term counselling to women who have experienced trauma.

I offer a non judgemental space for you to process your experience and help you to move on in your life making the changes you need.

My style is warm and relational and we will work together to look at the issues that are troubling you in a collaborative way. My aim is to help you to live a life of purpose and to move you forward from any feelings of being stuck.

I offer a free 20 minute taster session so that we can meet and so that you feel comfortable that I am a suitable therapist for you! I believe that the success of therapy depends on the strength of the relationship we are able to build together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
