About me
Here at One Life Therapies, I understand that it can be difficult to navigate the ups and downs that life can throw at us. To know which way to turn or how to move forwards. Sometimes it can be helpful to talk to someone unrelated who can offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space in which to explore your feelings and thoughts.
Offering online, telephone and face-to-face sessions in line with Covid secure guidance
Taking the first step in seeking help and making changes can feel overwhelming and even frightening. You can be reassured that at One Life Therapies you will receive a warm, supportive and compassionate welcome.
My name is Nicky Setter and I am a BACP registered, qualified humanistic counsellor, based in Wokingham.
I believe passionately in the power of talking therapies, to enable people to overcome difficulties, gain greater understanding of themselves and to grow as a person. I trust in my clients ability to know what is right for them and will work with you in a collaborative way to empower you to find your own solutions and way forward.
I offer private counselling to individual adults, in an easily accessible location and at a time that is convenient to you.
I provide counselling sessions from my personalised therapy room, in Wokingham, which is warm, modern, and comfortable. It's located in the beautiful grade 2 listed building of Markham house in central Wokingham and is easily accessible by road and public transport with nearby public parking available.
Please note, that I am now also able to offer online and telephone counselling, as well as face-to-face sessions in line with Covid-secure guidance.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work as a mainly person-centred counsellor. I will also use aspects of other types of counselling to offer an approach which suits your individual needs. I use a holistic approach in my work, which incorporates mind, body and soul and takes account of all parts of your life as a unique individual.
I have previously worked with both adults and young people at ARC counselling agency in Wokingham, as well as having had experience as a school counsellor.
My background is in healthcare where I have worked as a doctor in the NHS for the last 15 years. Please note, that whilst my professional experience includes work as a qualified doctor, I do not offer medical services or medical advice of any kind to counselling clients.
Please see below for a list of my qualifications:
CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
NCFE Level 3 Award in Counselling Skills and Theory
NCFE Level 2 Award in Helping Skills

MBBS (Medical degree)
Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
