About me

"Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change."Jim Rohn
Change doesn't have to feel overwhelming, handled safely and carefully it can be achieved so that you can begin to feel the results, which can feel rewarding and empowering.

Are there issues that have been bothering you for a while now that you keep hoping will get better? We as humans tend to get stuck in negative patterns that sometimes we don't even realise. This can hold us back from having the life that we want to have. I've been working as a therapist for over 15 years now and have observed that sometimes all we need is some help looking at the issues that are potentially holding us back.

Therapy doesn't have to be solely about change, whatever is happening for you, therapy can be a safe space for you to begin to offload and unpack "stuff" that you may have been carrying around for a long time.

Depending on what it is that you may bring I can tailor the therapy accordingly as I find different issues require different approaches. So for example in my experience anxiety disorders need a specific approach to start to notice any real difference. In my experience CBT tends to work best here. I believe in using CBT creatively to make the experience more enjoyable and effective.

Couples therapy.

I have been working with couples for over 10 years now and have found a way to achieve the best results. I find that couples tend to come to therapy either at crisis point or not far off so it is crucial in the early stages that we establish what needs to be achieved and how we go about achieving it. I see this very much as a collaborative process.

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation for all therapy enquires so please contact me if you would like to discuss what you are looking for first.

I work both face to face and online. I can also offer walking therapy for individuals if that suits.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Psychotherapist/ counsellor with over 15 years of experience.
I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Integrative Counselling and a further Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) I also have extensive training with working with eating Disorders with the National Centre for Eating Disorders. I am also a qualified Coach and Supervisor.

I am also a fully trained couples therapist.

I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and adhere to their code of ethics. I am also a member of Cruse, Bereavement Agency.

I started my career by working in educational settings and the NHS. Starting my private practice over 12 years ago has enabled my practice to grow and evolve into what it is now. I have got an excellent track record of progress  with clients in the following areas

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • eating disorders
  • OCD
  •  couples work
  • family relationships
  • bereavement
  • work related issues/work stress and burnout

Alongside working with various issues, I work with you to build your self esteem and self worth to empower you to have the confidence and resilience going forwards.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
