Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, UKCP, BSc (Hons)

About me

Hi, I’m Nicola.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I currently have availability for both in-person and online sessions, and you are welcome to get in touch if you would like to find out more or arrange an initial appointment. Working online means I can support clients throughout the UK.

I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Peterborough. I offer a warm, compassionate, and supportive space where you can talk openly and feel heard without judgement. I understand that starting counselling can feel daunting, and I aim to create a calm and relaxed environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

I have a particular interest in working with loss in its many forms — including bereavement, relationship changes, life transitions, and other significant experiences of change. Loss can have a profound impact and may present as anxiety, depression, or feelings of being overwhelmed or stuck. I work alongside clients to gently explore these experiences and support greater understanding, adjustment, and healing.

I offer both short-term and long-term counselling, depending on your needs. This can be discussed during our initial meeting and reviewed as our work progresses. Alongside private practice, I have experience working with EAP services as well as within low-cost and NHS settings.

Training, qualifications & experience

Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

I have a BSc(Hons) in Integrative Counselling, which means that I pull on a variety of modalities to support you in your process with me, predominately humanistic, psychodynamic and CBT. Within this I work in a relational and trauma-informed way. I have worked in both short and long term counselling settings.

I believe that my background in paediatric nursing, health visiting, brain  injury and dementia has given me the privilege to be with people at challenging times of their lives.  To provide a space for them to be human.  I have seen the difference it can make just to be heard and seen by someone, and for the experience to be explored.

At the heart of all my experiences has been providing compassion, a non-judgemental space and the opportunity to get to know them and their story.  I take this with me into my relationships with my clients, to provide them with the space they need to sit with what they are going through.

I have completed further training:

Safeguarding Adults and Children Level 3

Loss and Bereavement with Cruse

Working with Shame - Carolyn Spring
