About me

Hi, I'm Neil, and I'm guessing that you're here because you need support or looking to change something in your life.

Sometimes we can become so caught up in life that we lose sight of ourselves. We keep going, doing what needs to be done, while somewhere along the way our confidence, energy, or sense of direction can begin to disappear.

I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can slow things down and be yourself. Together, we'll make sense of what's going on, explore what you feel and why, and begin to understand the thoughts, behaviours and patterns that may be getting in the way.

I want counselling to be more than simply talking about your problems. We'll work towards helping you understand yourself, recognise what motivates you, build your confidence and develop the resilience to deal with life's challenges.

We'll work together at your pace, focusing on what matters to you. My aim is for you to leave counselling with greater clarity, a more positive outlook and a renewed sense of yourself.

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I can adapt my approach to your unique needs. My approach is compassionate, practical and solutions-focused. I want to help you understand yourself, build your resilience, rediscover your energy and develop a brighter outlook on life.

I bring an unusual perspective to my counselling practice. Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 36 years working in an office environment, so I understand first-hand the pressures that working life can bring, such as deadlines, responsibility, difficult relationships, expectations and the feeling that there is always something else that needs doing.

If work is affecting your wellbeing, I'll understand that it's not always as simple as being told to "leave work at work" and switch off. I can offer professional counselling alongside a genuine understanding of the pressures you're experiencing.

But you don't have to be struggling with work to come to me, I have experience helping with all manner of problems that adults of any age encounter. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, low mood, relationships, confidence, life changes, or simply a feeling that something isn't quite right, we'll start with you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer a free 20-minute consultation call before you decide whether you'd like to work with me. It's simply an opportunity for us to talk, get to know each other, and discuss what's brought you to counselling.

You can tell me as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. You can ask questions, get a feel for how I work and, most importantly, see whether you feel comfortable talking to me.

There is no pressure and no obligation to continue. Finding the right counsellor is important, and sometimes you simply know when you've found someone you feel you can talk to.
