About me

***Current Availability Update***

Due to increased demand and enquiries, I currently have reduced availability for introductory calls and new client sessions.

I am still accepting a limited number of new clients, so please feel free to reach out if you would like to work together but my response time to any enquiry might be up to 48 hours at the moment.

My priority is always client wellbeing through providing a high-quality, safe, supportive and individually tailored approach for each client, and so due to the increased demand I am currently managing my intake of new clients to ensure I can always continue to provide the best counselling possible.

My Approach To Counselling

I believe that every person is unique, and that counselling is most effective when it’s tailored to your individual needs and preferences. From the very beginning, I’ll work alongside you to build a safe, supportive relationship - and together we’ll find a way of working, including the format and pace of our sessions, that feels right for you. This collaborative approach is designed to help you feel at ease and able to get the most from your counselling experience. For example:

Feel anxious about a traditional therapy setting?
Walk-and-talk sessions (sometimes called eco-therapy) offer a more relaxed, natural environment. Being outdoors, with gentle movement and fresh air, can make talking feel easier and less formal.

Juggling time pressures or have travel/mobility constraints?
Online or telephone counselling provides flexible access to support, all from the comfort of your own familiar space. We’ll work together to find a time that fits into your schedule - whether that’s during a lunch break, after the kids are in bed, or another convenient slot.

Prefer a more interactive approach?
If creative expression feels more comfortable for you, we can incorporate tools like board games or art activities. These can help us explore your thoughts and feelings just as deeply, but in a way that feels more engaging and informal.

You're looking for the more traditional counselling setting?
I offer face-to-face sessions in a dedicated, confidential space in Tamworth town centre - a calm, supportive environment where you can feel safe to talk through whatever is on your mind.

Whichever format feels right for you, we’ll work together in a way that feels safe, supportive, and respectful of your pace - ensuring you feel comfortable and in control throughout the process.

I have experience supporting people through a wide range of challenges, including major life events like bereavement and relationship breakdowns, as well as ongoing difficulties such as anxiety and low self-esteem. I’ve also worked successfully with people who may not be able to pinpoint exactly what’s 'wrong', but that feel a general sense of dissatisfaction or that they’re not living life as fully as they’d like to.

Whatever you’re going through, you’ll be met with warmth, respect, and compassion. You may be feeling disconnected from yourself, overwhelmed by responsibilities, anxious, angry, constantly on edge - or struggling with other difficult emotions. Our work together will be focused on gently reducing and shifting these feelings, helping you develop a sense of calm, clarity and well-being in your daily life.

I am a registered member of the UK’s largest counselling governing body, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), fully insured and DBS checked. My face-to-face sessions are based in Tamworth, conveniently located near Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Atherstone, and Nuneaton. Walk and Talk sessions can be arranged to take place at any safe, mutually agreed-upon outdoor location within this area. My online and telephone sessions are available to clients across the UK.

Taking the first step

I understand that starting counselling can feel like a big step. That’s why I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute introductory phone or video call to get to know each other a bit and see if we'd be a good fit to work together. The call is a chance for us to discuss what you’re looking for, how I might be able to help, and for you to ask any questions - about me, my approach, or counselling in general.

You can get in touch using the "email me" or "call me" links at the top of my profile, I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

Whether it be working with me or with a different counsellor, I wish you well with your personal therapy journey, it really can be life changing.

Quick note: If you’re completely new to counselling and unsure what to expect, I’ve included some helpful resources in the final section below. Taking those first steps can be daunting, so I hope these materials can offer some extra guidance and reassurance as you explore your options.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

It is important to me that my sessions are as financially accessible as possible for anyone looking for counselling support, so in addition to keeping the costs down to £40 for in person sessions and £35 for online/phone sessions I also have chosen to provide 60 minute sessions rather than the more common 50 minute duration that is normal for the profession, with the aim of us getting more time together without any extra cost to you each week. I appreciate that everyone's life commitments and therefore their availability is different so I offer daytime, evening and weekend sessions.

Extra Information and Resources That May Be Helpful

Finding the right counsellor is a very personal decision, and it’s important to choose someone you feel safe and comfortable with. A strong therapeutic relationship - where you feel heard, understood and respected - is frequently identified as one of the most important factors in successful therapy.

I encourage you to explore a few different counsellors who feel like they could be a good fit, and speak with each of them before deciding. Most of us, myself included, offer free introductory calls - please take advantage of these. Finding the right match can make a real difference to your overall experience and outcomes in therapy.

If counselling is completely new to you and you’re unsure what to expect, the resources below from the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) may be helpful:

Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy – Client Guide (PDF) https://www.bacp.co.uk/media/15699/bacp-introduction-counselling-and-psychotherapy-client-information-sheet-july-22.pdf (A clear, easy-to-read guide that explains the basics of therapy, what the process might look like, and how it can support you).

BACP Ethical Framework https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/
This outlines the professional and ethical standards that all counsellors should follow to ensure your safety and well-being. You don’t need to read it in full, but it’s worth checking that any counsellor you consider is working in line with an ethical framework like this one.

I hope these resources offer some extra clarity and reassurance as you take your next steps.
