About me
Counsellor in Sheffield (S1) | Anxiety, Depression & Neurodivergent‑Affirming Therapy
You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy. If life feels heavy, confusing, or too much right now, you’re not alone. I offer a warm, accepting space where you can slow down, feel heard, and start to make sense of your experiences.
Hi, I’m Nat - a good listener and counsellor based in Sheffield (S1). I offer supportive, non‑judgmental counselling for adults who want greater self‑understanding, confidence, and more fulfilling relationships with themselves and others.
I’ve worked as a Counsellor at Sheffield Mind and the University of Sheffield, supporting clients with a wide range of difficulties. I value working at your pace, with care and curiosity, helping you to feel understood rather than judged or rushed.
Issues I work with
I support people experiencing:
- Anxiety and stress
- Low self‑esteem, self‑worth, and confidence
- Depression, hopelessness, loneliness, and loss
- Historical abuse, neglect, and trauma (including bullying)
- Neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism
- Relationship difficulties (including dating and break‑ups)
- Work‑related stress and dissatisfaction
- Identity and sexuality exploration
- Life transitions, family challenges, and parenting issues
- Self‑harm and suicidal thoughts
How I work
I’m passionate about supporting people to build lives and relationships that feel authentic and fulfilling. My way of working is warm, approachable, and compassionate, and I work relationally - meaning the therapeutic relationship is central to the process.
I take time to build trust and understanding so you can explore your experiences safely and without judgment. Through therapy, many clients find they reconnect with themselves, begin to understand their thoughts and feelings more clearly, and develop greater self‑compassion and confidence.
I won’t tell you what to do or offer quick fixes. Instead, I’ll be alongside you - listening carefully, reflecting with you, and offering a space where you can find your own answers and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
As an integrative counsellor, I tailor therapy to your needs. This might include developing self‑awareness, exploring emotions, rediscovering strengths, learning to trust yourself more, or creating practical steps for change. Together, we’ll shape therapy so it feels supportive, collaborative, and well‑matched to where you are.
What therapy can offer you
Many clients tell me they feel more grounded and in control, less anxious, and more hopeful about the future. They often feel better able to face day‑to‑day life with confidence, clarity, and self‑compassion.
Beginning therapy
Starting counselling can take courage, and it’s completely normal to have questions about whether therapy can help or whether I’m the right counsellor for you.
I offer a free 30‑minute initial chat, which gives you the chance to get a sense of what working together might be like and to ask any questions you have. I’m happy to explain how I work so you can decide whether it feels like a good fit.
If you choose to begin therapy, our first session will focus on getting to know each other and discussing practicalities such as confidentiality. Therapy is a personal process, and it’s important that it feels right for you. I’ll always welcome your thoughts on what feels most helpful and the direction you’d like our work to take.
Testimonials
“You gave me the chance to vocalise the thoughts and troubles I was going through - something I desperately needed to unlock feelings I’d never spoken about. I’ll be forever grateful for your professional help, care, and understanding during a time of need.”
“I worked with Nat weekly for 7 months. I gained a much better understanding of myself- why I react the way I do - and developed invaluable coping skills for when I feel low or respond in unhealthy ways. This has had a hugely positive impact on my relationships and, most importantly, on how I view myself and my sense of self-worth.”
Training, qualifications & experience
I've been practising as a therapist since 2022 - in Sheffield Mind's Revive Therapy service and at the University of Sheffield's Student Mental Health, Counselling and Therapies Service.
I have a diploma in Integrative Person-Centred Psychotherapy, which takes three years part-time to complete and involved 100 hours of counselling and extensive written work before qualification.
I am a member of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), a regulatory body for counsellors. This means that I hold to a code of ethics and can be disciplined or ejected if I fail to live up to it.

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I have worked with many neurodivergent adults in counselling, and my own family includes neuro-atypical members. So I am thoughtful and empathic about the experiences and challenges that neurodivergent people can sometimes experience, and how this can lead people to therapy. My supervision relationship also understands how neurodivergence can present in both therapy and recovery. I welcome neurodivergent clients!
