About me
When we're struggling, how does counselling fit in?
At times in our lives, we can experience periods of great difficulty and stress. Often we are able to manage these feelings but sometimes it can all seem like too much. This can lead to feelings of overwhelm, apathy and exhaustion. It is not always easy to talk to friends or family who may judge us, give opinions or simply be too busy to listen. We may also feel embarrassed about how we are feeling, or not want to bother others with our problems. During such times, accessing support can be a really useful thing to do. However, sometimes it can feel very frightening to ask for help. That's why when you do make the decision to access counselling, it's important that you have full information in order to make the decision as to what type of therapy is right for you.
How can counselling help?
Counselling can be a valuable tool for individuals facing emotional, psychological, or life challenges, providing a safe and supportive space to explore their thoughts and feelings. Whether dealing with stress, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, or personal growth, counselling offers guidance and support tailored to your individual needs. My therapeutic approach is what is known as 'humanistic'. Counsellors who are humanistic hold a way of being which is both empathic and empowering for clients. Humanistic therapists take the view that each person has a capacity and a desire for personal growth and change and seek to facilitate this for you through therapy.
How can I help you?
Through open dialogue with a humanistic therapist, individuals can better understand themselves, work through difficulties, and make meaningful changes in their lives. Ultimately, counselling empowers people to navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience. My therapeutic interventions can help with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges or simply a desire to better understand yourself. Many clients find it a deeply rewarding process that fosters greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and emotional wellbeing. Over many years I have developed a particular specialist interest in working with bereavement, trauma and loss. Clients experiencing trauma often need support in processing deep and difficult thoughts and feelings in a safe space in order to start to feel better, which I am able to facilitate in a safe, professional way.
What should I expect in my first session?
The environment in which I work is always safe, trusting and open for you to discuss anything which you feel is significant to you at this time. You will not face prejudice or judgement in the therapeutic space. What I can offer is a calm, empathic and genuine approach to whatever it is that you are going through at the moment. In the first thirty minute free session we would explore your needs for therapy so I can understand a little more about what is happening in your life and I would share more about what I can offer you as a therapist. From there we can decide whether to move forward together for counselling.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
