MBACP: Integrative therapist and Shamanic counsellor

About me

Feeling lost? Come sit with me for a while. You don't need to have it all figured out. Together, we can make space for what you're experiencing and gently explore what you might need next.

My name is Natasha, and I offer integrative counselling online, as well as face-to-face Walk and Talk therapy in the Brighton and Hove area. I am also trained as a shamanic counsellor.

Perhaps you're going through a period of change, loss or uncertainty, or have a sense that something from your past is still influencing how you feel and relate to life today. You may not know exactly what you need from therapy, and that's okay. We can begin wherever you are and gently explore what feels important to you.

Integrative counselling typically combines focusing on what you’re experiencing in the present moment, while also looking at patterns and stories from your past. We might also explore the different ‘parts’ of you (anger, sadness, etc.) and how they relate to one another, and then gently consider whether some of the beliefs, patterns or ways of being you developed earlier in life still belong to you going forward.

I work with grief in its many forms, including bereavement and the anticipation of death, relationship loss, miscarriage, and the grief that can accompany significant life events and transitions. Grief isn't always about losing someone; sometimes it can involve letting go of an identity, relationship, expectation, or way of life that once felt important.

I am an integrative counsellor, drawing on humanistic, psychodynamic and transpersonal approaches. This means there isn't one prescribed way we have to work. I tailor the therapy to you and what you need, rather than expecting you to fit a particular model, and if it aligns for you, we can integrate a more holistic or spiritual understanding into the work too. I am also trained as a shamanic counsellor - bringing together traditional talking therapy and shamanic practice.

Nature and creativity are also important parts of my work. Through my shamanic nature-based training and previous experience in the creative industries, I can bring drawing, objects from nature, journaling, dream work, grounding or breathing practices into our sessions, but only where these feel meaningful and aligned with you.

For some people, being outdoors can create a different kind of therapeutic space. Walking side by side can make it easier to talk, reflect, and connect with what is happening within you, and if this resonates, then walk and talk therapy in person could be an option.

I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation online, giving us an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy and whether working together feels like a good fit. Let's connect and see where the conversation takes us.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have practiced shamanic journeying and ritual for over 15 years, finding that it helps me find the power, help, and healing that I need in my day-to-day life and strengthens my connection to nature and the wisdom of trees.

I began shamanic training with the Asbacka Scandinavian Centre for Shamanic Studies in 2023, training specifically as a shamanic counsellor alongside a three-year diploma in traditional talking therapy registered and accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

I am a long-standing member of ACER for psychedelic therapy integration, and I volunteer in a hospice with end-of-life patients and people grieving loved ones. I also hold monthly online circles for those that identify as mothers to share the experience of motherhood with one another.

My approach is to listen to what you need and then to work alongside you to reconnect to your own intuition and wisdom.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

What is shamanic counselling? It's where traditional counselling meets shamanic practice. It's a deep immersion into your inner intuition.

Shamanic counselling involves ‘journeying’ (by way of drumming) into your deep unconscious to ask your spirit guides for help, power, guidance, or healing. When we go to the Spirits, a deeper learning takes place. We realise there is much more to discover, with new perspectives and different relations. We receive it in another way, so it becomes part of us.

My role is to witness and facilitate your connection with your own inner guidance and intuition and connection to the Spirit world. My presence serves to support you as you journey toward healing and personal power. I am here to listen, hold space, and ask the right questions. I do not provide interpretations; rather, I help you unlock the teachings within your own experience and embrace the power it brings.

Our time together begins with a shared conversation to find a clear, heartfelt mission for your journey. We call in the Spirits with a rattle before you lie down to begin. Using headphones and a drumming track, you will speak your journey aloud as it unfolds. Afterward, we reflect on the journey together to explore what has shifted and how this wisdom can be integrated into your life.

This practice allows you to guide yourself with the support of the ancient wisdom of the trees and the spirits. After journeying, it is very important to write up your experience word for word based on a recording I will send you after the session.

Email me to set up a free 20-minute consultation, and we can talk more about it and what you might need. I can offer a blend of 50 min talking therapy sessions as well as some longer shamanic counselling sessions.
