About me

I provide counselling for adults who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, unsure of themselves, or of their direction in life. You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right, even if you can’t yet put it into words.

I believe deeply in the power of being truly heard and understood. Many of us spend years carrying things alone or feeling we have to “cope” without support. Therapy can be a place where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or have all the answers, just a safe space to speak openly and honestly, reflect, and move forward with your life in a way that suits you best. I see therapy as a collaborative process, built on trust and compassion. Whether you are coming with a clear goal or simply a feeling that you would like something to change, we can work together to explore what matters to you and what might help you move forward.

My approach is rooted in person-centred therapy, which means I believe that you are the expert on your own life. I aim to provide a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. I work integratively, meaning I draw on different therapeutic ideas where they feel most suitable, always guided by your individual needs rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation before beginning counselling. This is an opportunity to ask questions, learn a little more about the process, and decide if you feel I will be a good fit to move forward with.

If you decide to proceed, in our first session, I will spend some time explaining the process, how I work, confidentiality, and boundaries. We will also explore what brought you to counselling, address any fears or worries you may have, answer any questions, and look at potential goals you may want to set. You are in control of how the sessions go; there is no pressure to share everything in the first meeting, and we will work together moving forward at a pace that best suits you.
