About me
I am a Nantwich, Cheshire, based psychotherapist, counsellor and coach. I have worked as a therapist for many years and have extensive experience working in mental health:
Anxiety; depression; stress; relationships; behavioural disorders; low self-esteem; neurodiversity including ADHD and autism; confidence; couples counselling; family issues; suicidal tendencies; BPD; abuse...and others
I work with the person in front of me as an individual and often combine therapies depending on the client's needs. I use techniques from person-centred, CBT, solution focussed therapy, behavioural therapy, IFS, somatic therapy, Gestalt... and I continue to expand my working tools all the time.
It is important that the client feels safe and I work hard to ensure that is the case. My therapy room is at my home address but away from my home, ensuring privacy and separate of the space, but retains a homely and relaxed atmosphere.
It can be hard to admit that you need extra support, I am aware of that, so that enforces even more for me the need to create a safe space where you know you can speak and feel as comfortable as possible within what is shared in our sessions.
I have a lot of experience with online and telephone counselling also, meaning you can stay home whilst we talk
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked extensively with:
chronic illness and pain, anxiety, depression and feeling sad, grief and loss and bereavement, stress, abuse (physical, sexual and emotional), sexuality, suicide and suicidal thoughts, mental disorders, relationships including separation and divorce, low self-confidence and many other areas.
I am doing a professional doctorate with the Metanoia Institute (DPsych) in Psychotherapy, researching the relationship women with chronic conditions have emotionally with their own bodies (2024-2028). I have a Masters degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice (MA) from Bath Spa University, a BSc (Hons) in Person Centred Counselling from the University of Derby, an Advanced Hypnotherapy diploma from the London College of Hypnotherapy and a Spiritual Counselling diploma from the Holistic Healing College.
I run group therapy for a large international software company for their international HR teams and sales teams. I also run a locally based women's psychological well-being and social group
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
