Why seek Counselling
Does your anxiety or depression feel unbearable? Maybe you have General anxiety Disorder or a Panic Disorder. Have you recently experienced a bereavement, or a relationship breakdown and feel you can no longer cope alone. Perhaps you feel that you are locked in to destructive repetitive patterns of relating and cant seem to break free. Or maybe you cant seem to motivate yourself to fulfill the dreams and hopes you have for yourself.
Whatever it is, it might be helpful to talk to someone professionally qualified who is experienced and down to earth. Someone who will not judge you, but who will work alongside you, to help you to achieve the things you want for yourself.
I am a qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and I have the experience to possibly help you with these issues.
What can Counselling help with?
Counselling can help with a wide range of issues. Whether you are wanting to resolve difficulties you have been experiencing for some time, such as feeling low, or depressed. Are you suffering from General anxiety disorder, or a panic disorder. Or are you having relationship issues; having difficulty forming or sustaining relationships; continually repeating old patterns; or feeling that something in life is missing counselling might be helpful for you.
Therapy enables you to obtain a greater understanding of your problems and how they can be resolved; it gives you a greater sense of ease with yourself and others; and reduces stress and anxiety. Therapy works to address immediate difficulties and to bring about lasting change.
What I offer
I offer a secure and confidential, comfortable and non-judgemental time and space to think and talk over issues which may be affecting your life. Taking this time to reflect on and think about things can often give you a completely different perspective and allow you to create better choices for yourself. Therapy can give you the tools you need to discover your own internal resources and to develop your own emotional resilience. Gaining clarity will allow you to make better and more informed choices for yourself and within your relationships.
Issues I work through with clients include:
- Step parenting issues
- Sexual Identity
- young People
How does counselling or therapy work?
We meet face to face for 50 minutes at the same time each week to explore the issues you wish to talk about. There is no set duration - some people feel ready to stop coming after a few months and others wish to continue for much longer. We can talk about how long you might wish to come for at our initial meeting and we can keep it under review.
