About me
I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor in the Chalk Farm area. I provide a gentle, explorative space for those grappling with an awareness that something is wrong; you may be struggling under the weight of familiar, long-term difficulties, or find yourself facing circumstances or relationships that are increasingly upsetting or difficult.
Perhaps you go through life feeling anxious, or depressed. Therapy can empower you to understand yourself better, and so access greater personal agency.
Many come to therapy because (perhaps in spite of an image they present to the world) they do not feel happy. There may be confusion as to why happiness, self esteem or peace of mind is elusive. Or you may know what's wrong, but feel powerless to change. In a psychotherapeutic relationship, this can be explored in a meaningful way, paving a gradual path towards empowerment and meaningful change.
My role is to facilitate a trusting relationship in which you can gradually give voice to experiences or parts of yourself that might feel vulnerable or unacceptable in the outside world.
It can involve working with deep unconscious patterns of relating (to self and others) that have their origins in early life. Beginning as adaptations, they may now keep us locked in fixed cycles that inhibit authentic self-expression, inside and out.
Each person's therapy is unique to them, and our relationship will reflect this; no two therapeutic partnerships are the same. Whatever your work involves, it is a confidential process, and a collaborative one - and we work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and am currently undertaking the final year of training towards an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy with the Metanoia Institute in London; one of the country's foremost dedicated psychotherapy training institutes.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I charge £60 for sessions, which are weekly.
On receiving an enquiry, I offer a free short telephone conversation and then an initial assessment session at a fee of £40; this provides an opportunity for us to get a sense of each other and ‘feel out’ if we may be a good therapeutic match.
