About me
Welcome! I’m an accredited therapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured, evidence-based form of talking therapy that focuses on how your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and physical responses are all connected. Through our work together, I’ll help you identify and understand the patterns in your thinking and behaviour that may be holding you back and support you in learning practical strategies to change them.
CBT is highly effective for a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and stress. The tools you learn in therapy are designed to be long-lasting, helping you manage life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
The approach I use combines:
Cognitive therapy, where we explore unhelpful or negative thought patterns.
Behavioural therapy, where we look at how your actions are influenced by those thoughts and how to make meaningful changes.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
I am also trained in EMDR, a powerful therapy that helps people process and heal from past trauma or distressing experiences. Often, difficult events can get "stuck" in the brain and continue to affect how we feel and react in the present, sometimes without us fully realising why.
EMDR works by using gentle, guided eye movements (or other forms of bilateral stimulation) to help the brain reprocess these memories so they become less distressing. You don’t need to talk in detail about the events if you don’t want to. EMDR allows your brain to do the healing work in a safe and structured way.
Many clients find EMDR especially helpful when they feel stuck or overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma, or painful experiences that haven’t resolved with traditional talking therapies.
Working Together
Whether we use CBT or EMDR, I’ll always tailor our work to suit your needs and goals. My aim is to create a supportive, non-judgemental space where you feel safe to explore what’s going on for you and take meaningful steps toward change.
