About me

Does life feel a bit unmanageable at the moment? Are you using unhealthy coping strategies such as drinking too much alcohol, binge eating or engaging in other ‘addictive’ behaviours as you navigate stress, anxiety or grief? I’m Michele, a warm, down-to-earth counsellor who can support you to find some balance and cope better with challenges and transitions. Counselling with me is flexible and holistic in a way that works for you, either in the therapy room, out in nature or online. Maybe you need compassionate support, practical steps forward or just someone to really hear you and understand? I am here for you. Let’s have a free 15 minute chat and see if together we can find a way to improve your wellbeing.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a creative and integrative counsellor, so have plenty of tools and approaches that can be finely tuned to your needs, such as Humanistic, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Existential, Gestalt and CBT modalities. I have particular training and experience with people struggling with addictions, self-harm and disordered eating patterns, having worked with charities offering counselling to clients with these issues. I also work with childhood trauma and attachment issues, especially how this is still affecting you as an adult. Using Compassion Focused Therapy is a good way to support you with this type of highly sensitive and deeply emotive work.

Many clients also come with concerns of abuse and narcissistic relationships, (with partners or other family members) and this may be current or historic. We can gently look at whatever you bring to the sessions, always mindful not to re-traumatise you.

I have a wellbeing barn as part of my peaceful wellbeing sanctuary in Somerset (between Bath and Glastonbury). This offers the chance to be creative in the way we work together, such as exploring sand tray or sound therapy. Sometimes methods other than talking alone can help us process difficult experiences, especially when working with something very emotional or traumatic.

We can have your sessions inside, walking in the meadow and connecting with nature or sitting and watching the Pygmy goats on their trampoline…. I love to be flexible and adapt to the way you feel comfortable working.

I belief that your therapy should be as individual as you are, so we will work together in a way that feels respectful and allows you to move at the pace you set. I am also a mindfulness teacher and very experienced in helping clients find ways to come out of either fight or flight mode, or a more depressed state by gently rebalancing their nervous system.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
