About me

Hi I’m Kayla I’m a creative, neurodivergent, fully qualified integrative Counsellor. Sessions together will be tailored to what you need, the pace is set by you, you choose what we talk about, with a focus on what helps you to feel safe. Its a space to think out loud without needing to perfect the words you use. Its a space to have honest conversations rather then any therapy cliches. sometimes its pretty obvious how we're feeling.

Our sessions will be a space for all emotions, I welcome sadness, anger, joy, hope, laughter, boredom and anxiety. I'd like to get to know your full self.

My job as your counsellor is essentially to help you not need one, that you can leave our work together feeling confident and expressing your whole self.

We'll focus on patterns that come up in relationships, work and day to day life. Your experience of life will always be understood in context, often that context is surviving what life chucks at us.

I believe that counselling should be accessible to everyone especially in this economy. You will notice I have lower prices than the standard. This is to provide quality sessions to those who otherwise would be outpriced. It is a shame that so many must wait for low cost therapy with only six sessions and I want to do my part to change this.

We all have challenges and difficulties in life, which we all try our best to cope with. However sometimes it may feel like the difficulty is ramped up to highest whilst everyone else is playing on easy mode.

Finding the right therapist for you can be a challenge, especially when there a lot of people offering what they think is best, its important to find someone who genuinely understands and sees you to support you through your journey.

if any of this felt familiar to you, I welcome you to pop me a message

Training, qualifications & experience

CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies

CPCAB Level 2 Certification in Counselling Skills

Healing Word provides integrative therapy which means I have been trained in a variety of counselling methods which I weave together to create a unique bespoke experience for each individual. This approach means you will be provided with the right treatment based on your needs.

My approach is humanistic and primarily interweaves Person centred theory with elements of Gestalt Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, compassion theory, attachment theory and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). If you would like more information on these modalities, do ask!!

I am a certified Geek Therapist, this therapeutic approach uses geek culture and ACT to engage and support someone in achieving their therapeutic goals. I create a familiar and comfortable environment that helps therapy feel less intimidating. This is for those of us who feel disconnected from traditional therapeutic approaches or struggle to express themselves conventionally.

Having a lived experience of being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community and being neurodiverse I am passionate about diversity, representation and inclusivity. I work with people from all backgrounds, welcoming clients of all genders, sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds and religions.

I have a special interest of reaching out to those of you who have experienced previous therapeutic abuse and  members of the Gypsy, Roma, Travelers community who are widely underrepresented.

On a monthly basis I engage in continual professional development and training so I can continue to give the best service possible.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
