About me

My name is Mike, I am an HCPC registered Art Therapist with an MA in Art Psychotherapy from The University of Roehampton, London.

I use a client-centred approach in the knowledge that you are the only expert that exists on you. I have worked with young children, adolescents and adults using creativity and image-making to express emotion and as a means to explore complex thoughts and feelings to gain a deeper understanding of themselves.

You don’t have to be an artist to benefit from art therapy, only a willingness to use art-making in the therapeutic process. All materials will be provided for your session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MA in Art Psychotherapy and have worked in secondary schools with adolescent clients. I also have experience working in mental health community prisons with adult clients. I am also currently working in a private addiction rehabilitation centre for drug & alcohol addiction.

I work one-to-one and in groups and have worked with clients that come to therapy with a range of issues including depression & anxiety, trauma & complex trauma, addiction and personality disorders.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
